CRYSTAL LAKE, IL – DECEMBER 10, 1990

The Quad City Ice Eagle Bantam hockey club posted another shutout victory, defeating the Crystal Lake team by a score of 5-0  Friday night in a game played at the Crystal Lake Ice House.  Brandon Kruse earned the credit for his third shutout of the season, kicking out all 14 Crystal Lake shots.

The Eagles got on the board early when Austin Busch scored an unassisted goal at the 2:01 mark of the first period.  Quad Cities had the best of the scoring opportunities, but the Crystal Lake goalie was able to hold the deficit to one goal until midway through the second period, when John Carr set up Brandon Balsar for a short shot from the goalie’s right to make the score 2-0.  With Crystal Lake trailing by two, they began to take some chances, and that opened up more opportunities for the Eagles.  Josh Moon made it 3-0 at the 4:05 mark of the third, assisted by Busch.  The Eagles then closed out the scoring with two goals within a minute late in the game.  The fourth goal was scored by Ryne Takacs, assisted by Welch, and Mark Muenstermann added the last goal, assisted by Moon and Les Mooney.

The win moved the Eagles’ season record to 14-4, with another game scheduled for Saturday afternoon against the Chargers of Rolling Meadows.
