Robert Sweet Tribute Page

I remember seeing Stryper live in Ames, Iowa in 1989 at the Hilton Colisium. I remember this huge mountain of drums in the backround, but it stood out unlike another drum kit. There was lots of drums, mirrors, stripes, etc... but the main thing that stood out for me was the way the drummer, Robert Sweet played that night. Unlike a lot of drummers, Robert wanted to stand out. He started turning his kit sideways so people could see him. His is different from other drummers becuase he takes it to a science, not just beating a kit everynight. Stryper parted ways in 92, and Robert has worked on a number of projects including King James, Tammy Winters, the recent Shameless project, and his own project, Blank. At one time he was working on the Danger Angels project, but it fell through. I would love to hear the demos of that one. Recently, he moved to the city of Las Vegas(or is that Lost Wages?). He recently started a job and is raising his family as well. I had the honor of talking with Robert September 15, 1998 on the phone for 2 hours. He came across as well read, highly intelegent and very cool. I'm very thankful for the contribution he has had on my life, leading me to the Lord. If you've never heard Robert play, pick up a Stryper album. You'll be in or a real treat.

He released his solo cd entitled "Love Trash" on World Gone Mad records, but has been dropped from the label. I spoke to Robert a couple of times at the expo, and agian, I hope to have the pics up here soon.
