Brief history on AtariMania for those who don't know: back in 2013 Daniel Iacovelli, AVC Online Chairperson and Video Game Summit Promoter and Paul Zimmerman, Video Game Summit Staffer decided to hold a stand alone event at Galloping Ghost Arcade not only help promote VGS but to celebrate Atari. AtariMania itself was continuing at the arcade til 2015, when it was decided to go on hiatus due to arcade being remolded, while it was loosely represented at VGS afterwords. Paul's decision to bring back AtariMania as part of the show this year is to help celebrate the 40th anniversary Atari 2600 which debuted on September 11th,1977 with Combat as its pack in game. He will be featuring the Atari Flashback portable that will be set with the majority of the 2600 games from the past to play as well as the Atari Flashback 2 that will have Combat tournament for people to play which promises to have some great prizes and a award certificate for first place winner. Besides that he will also have other Atari memorabilia and few surprises plus Trading cards from the Walter Day collection. You can see AtariMnaia at booth #20 While at the show don't forget to check out the Game Area where other aspects of AtariMania will be represented: Stop by Atari Jaguar Festival (Atari Jagfest AKA Atari Jaguar Fest On Tour) table and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first show which was held on July 19th,1997 held in Rosemont,IL,where you can see and play some popular and possibly rare games for the Jaguar.(we will also have special raffle like before just for Jagfest with a Jagfest Tour Shirt and Jagfest 10th anniversary poster as prizes.) Our Annual Harmony Games High Score contest that focuses on the homebrew scene of the 2600 returns for another year being played on the 7800 using Edladdin controller's Seagull Adapter's that uses the Sega Genesis controller's. The game used this year is Donkey Kong V.(this will also be played online as well at Atariage forum and our own forum at http://avconline.freeforums.net (both under the Harmony Games topic) First place and second place winners get award certificates at the show only. We will also have selected 7800 games to play during down time of the tournament(as well a huge selection of homebrew games for the 2600).
