One very important theme of the nevel is the absolute power
of bureaucracy. The men repeatedly risk their lives for their
supperior officer's personal gain. The bureaucrats often
disregard any attempts that the men make to reason with them
and are illogical at any moment possible. One prime example is
when Yossarian first gets out of the hospital and goes to Doc
Daneeka to ask to be sent home. Doc Daneeka refuses to do so
because of Catch-22. Catch-22 states that only insane men can be
sent home, but if a man says he is insane, he is obviously sane so
he cannot be sent home.
