The Soldier in White

  

        The soldier in white is a man wrapped up in a bunch of bandages with no face that lies in the hospital in the first chapter. This is an important symbol of the way the army treats its men as interchangeble objects. Months after his death he is replaced by another soldier in white and everyone thinks he is the same person.

 

 

 

  Chocolate Covered Cotton Balls

 

      Milo comes up with the idea of chocolate covered cotton balls. With Yossarian's advice, he sells it to the government after he finds there is an excess amount of cotton and he cannot sell it all. Milo's cottonballs lack substance underneath the tasty exterior which reveals that bureaucracy can be fooled by appearences and is unable to determine fraud from real merit.
