Hi, and thanks for stopping by. My name is Maria and I have been making children's clothing for about 15 years. I could never find quality clothing that was easy care and looked nice when my children were small and discovered the joy of sewing their clothes. I have always enjoyed creating one of a kind outfits for my children and those of friends. I do work from a pattern, but I never make two outfits the same.
I prewash my fabrics and generally use fabrics and trims that are machine wash and dry. I do make special occasion clothing from time to time with fabrics that require more care, but usually when I have been requested to do so. I generally find that children are more comfortable in cottons and cotton blends and when put together with the right pattern and trims, can look as lovely and as dressed up as if they are in clothing that is far less comfortable and much higher maintenance.
I make everything from short sets to overalls to pyjamas to sweatsuits to dresses to jumpers to suits and special occasion dresses. My favourite things to make are clothes that children find comfortable with freedom to move, that are easy care and beautiful. My own daughters always enjoyed dresses or jumpers with "spinny" skirts and one of a kind sweatshirts. My sons always enjoyed shirts and pants that were not "stiff", and comfortable individualized sweatshirts and suits. Polar fleece is fun and easy to work with and children and adults alike seem to enjoy mitts, hats, and jackets made from it. All four of my children enjoyed home made pyjamas and always asked for matching ones for Christmas. One year I made 13 coordinating nighshirts and pyjama sets so we could have a portrait of all the grandchildren taken for my mother. Dresses or jumpers with "spinny" skirts and individualized sweatshirts are always requested by children and their parents both when it comes time to pick birthday or Christmas presents.
I make boy's and girl's clothing in sizes newborn to 6X, and girl's clothing to size 14.
