| ...the very first of the Original Four, a series of non-android
robots perfectly capable of sentient thought, self-awareness, foresight,
and every single other quality normally associated with living beings.
One day, this rip in reality opened up, and out he came. No one can say
much else upon his origin beyond that, and not even he has vague memories
of what came beforehand.
Upon the revelation of his arrival, there was a media fiasco. What was he? Where did he come from? Why could he speak fluent English? Who was the genius who though up of him? |

as a benevolent caretaker, one who would gladly take control and lead
during a time of crisis. Every nuance of his attitude points toward him
being an incredibly stable leader, equally capable of tactical planning
as he is at managing the commanded unit and keeping it as one.
Despite being able to keep stable relationships, he is utterly fascinated by the human machine, and is constantly observing them, quite unaware that many of the quirks he has are ones present within himself. |

| When
the media fiasco came, so did what was seen as an agency being paid under
the table by the U.S. government. Proto was captured, and modified with
what was state-of-the-art military technology; an energy cannon was installed
into his chest, and a propulsion engine onto his back. With the aid of
lab technician, a custodian, and a lot of dumb luck, Proto was able
to escape, and hitch a ride on a cargo plane back to California.
After escape, it was necessary to plot a way out of being tracked down again. Along with Dr. Clay, and with cooperation from the Mayor of Foxton, Proto was able to engineer what was assumed to be a total catastrophe, in which he was thought to be lost and destroyed beyond repair. Once his ‘death’ was faked, he was able to live very quietly in a house in the same residential district Clay lived... Despite being what is universally accepted as a masterwork in robotics, Proto is not perfect. Upon having his chest cannon installed, his programming conflicted terribly with it, causing a very ‘unpleasant’ lab accident. Ever since, he has been having a few glitches involving the weapon, along with several personality ‘tics’. |
