Shelagh McKenna was born in London, England and was educated in Canada where she graduated from the University of Toronto with first class honours. She began writing while raising her children after a career in classical ballet. In 2005 Unicorn Publishing came out with The Fae Rhy, a treatise on ancient northern Europe which was sold through various retailers including Britnell Books, Coutts Library Service and the Atlantis Book Shop in London, England. In 2006 Unicorn published The Anvil, a novel set in a psychiatric institution, which also has been sold through Coutts and which is in the National Library of Canada's circulating collection of Canadian literature. The Anvil is now available to educational institutions through S & B Books in Mississauga.
