About Mr. Stroebel

I was born on July 9, 1958 (that's me at 7) and am a 1976 graduate of  Trotwood-Madison High School in Dayton, Ohio.  I came to Indiana to attend Butler University where I graduated cum laude with high honors in history in 1979. In my junior year, I served as Student Body President.  I also have a masters degree from Butler and am an enthusiastic fan of Bulldog basketball.  My wife, Janet, is a corporate banker for National City Bank, and my son, Jeremy, is a junior at Carmel High School and a proud member of the two-time state championship marching band.

Before coming to Sycamore, I taught in Lebanon, Brownsburg, and Pike Township, helping start gifted programs in both Brownsburg and Pike.  Coaching football and leading student trips to Europe was a major part of my life while teaching in those districts.  After coming to Sycamore in 1994, I earned an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education at Purdue.  One of my proudest moments was being named the Indiana Association for the Gifted’s (IAG) Teacher of the Year in 2000 (right).  I have presented regularly at both the National Association for Gifted Children and Indiana Association for the Gifted conventions and have been a contributing writer to Our Gifted Children.

In my spare time, I enjoy keeping up with current events by reading the New York Times, Washington Post, and Indianapolis Star and watching the news.  I also enjoy playing golf and am a huge Indianapolis Colts fan.  It surprises a lot of people to learn that I do almost all the cooking in my household.
