Pride UPDATE from yesterday's item about Gay Pride:
SHOWTIME/Queer as Folk will be participating in several Gay Pride events this year. Look for the brand new Babylon dance club floats -- complete with dancers, stage, sound system and lights -- which will be sailing through LA, NY, Atlanta, Washington D.C. and San Francisco! For more information on these U.S. events, check out the Appearances page. For those North of the border, there's a whole lot of Canadian Pride going on as well... check out PridevisionTV's listings for Pride 2002 in Canada to see what your city has planned this summer. I think it's safe to assume that Showcase will be participating in some of these events as well... the question is, how on earth do you top a Babylon float? *g*

Mental HygieneEntertainment News Daily reported this past week that Lori Silverbush's Mental Hygiene (in which Gale Harold has a small role, and which can currently be viewed on the Chrysler Film Festival Web site as mentioned below) has been chosen as one of thirty-six short films to be screened in competition at The International Independent Film Showcase, one of the programs presented by the Tribeca Film Festival. A complete list of scheduled films and events is expected to be posted to the site by mid-April.

Background: The Tribeca Film Center, which serves as the headquarters for Tribeca Films, is located in the heart of Tribeca at 375 Greenwich Street, between North Moore and Franklin Streets. In the 1980s, a fairly remote area of downtown Manhattan was being transformed into one of New York's most desirable residential neighborhoods. Robert De Niro, one of its most prominent residents, had a vision for the neighborhood. This vision was for Tribeca (the TRIangle BElow CAnal) to become the core of the film industry in New York. Mr. De Niro, along with established producer Jane Rosenthal, purchased the former Martinson Coffee warehouse and formed Tribeca Films in 1989.
