Introduction

I have written this book primarily for one reason, because I will not always be around to share this information with my family whom I love very much. It is my hope and prayers that those descendants of mine will reflect on Christ’s Church and the sacrifice he willingly gave for us. We live in a world that is complex and fast paced with ever changing ideas and agendas. Yet for 2000 years there has been one constant: Jesus Christ and His Holy Church, which is His very body (Colossians 1:18, Colossians 1:24 Eph 1:22). It is my wish that those descendants of mine for generations to come, reflect on His sacrifice and His gift to us as His children. The Holy Bible tells us that there is but One Truth and One Faith: "There is One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One God." (Eph 4:4) It is my aim in committing these essays to publication that my children and my children’s children benefit from these writings for the greater glory of God and the salvation of their souls. I just want to believe as the Apostles taught Christ’s early Church, no matter where it leads me and no matter what it costs me. I pray that my children embrace this desire and that all Christians embrace this as well. Unfortunately, this is not the case for all Christians. For there are many reasons people call themselves “Christian” or attend the church they do. I would ask, if we call ourselves “Christians,” does that not imply that we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ? Or are we free to embrace any belief system we want, whether Christ and His Apostles taught it or not?

The theme of this book is this: an idea or concept can only be “Biblical,” at least in the New Testament, if and only if the Apostles taught said idea and subsequently wrote it into the Holy Bible. Or conversely: if the Apostles did not teach it, it’s not NT Biblical. For every non-Catholic Christian alive will tell you this or that is “Biblical.” But if you press them into defining what it means to be “Biblical” or plainly ask them if the Apostles taught such an idea, it will become quite evident by shear logic and lack of historical Christian precedent that what they think or claim is “biblical,” is really just a modern interpretation of the Holy Bible totally unheard of in the 1 st century, the 5 th century the 10 th century and even the 16 th century. It is but a modern interpretation of the Holy Bible on 2000-year-old scrolls, 3 languages removed and a host of cultures separated. I consider it quite sophomoric to believe that one can read a passage in the 21 st century and gleam the “spirit and intent” of a New Testament author without considering the context of the passage and what else the author wrote. To base one’s belief system on a single modern interpretation of a single verse while discounting a multitude of contradictory verses by the same author is foolish and self serving.

The Holy Scriptures tell us that “God is not a God of confusion but of peace” 1 Cor 14:33. His message is constant and it does not change, for Christ does not change. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings." Hebrews 13:8-9. What the Gospel was in the first millennium should be the same Gospel in the 3 rd millennium. That is why is it is of utmost importance to discover the author and origins of one’s theology. Ironically modern Protestantism repudiates 90% of what its first Protestants taught, for the ideas of the modern Christian are of recent origin. And if they discount their first reformers, how likely is it on a historical and linear timeline, that they are embracing the teachings of the Apostles if they don’t even embrace the teaching of their own first Protestants in the 16 th century? Many in this day and age embrace belief systems they have not tested. Even when the Holy Bible commands us to test everything, many refuse to because of what they might find. “Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22. The truth should not be feared for the Truth is Jesus Christ.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6
For God “ wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:4 What follows then are the verses not underlined in many Christian’s Bibles.
