Queen of Heaven?

We are all familiar with the flood and how the ark came to rest upon Mt.Ararat, when the waters receded enough to leave the ark, Noah immediately built an altar and sacrificed to God. As time passed Noah's family began to grow and migrate to different parts of the then known world. As they grew and prospered, the more arrogant they became, they began taking thier eyes off of God, and instead of crediting Him for their many blessings, they began getting puffed up with pride and began believing they were responsible for all the good things life had to offer. Their pride would continue to grow and blind them to God and it would come to a head with the great grandson of Noah, a man named Nimrod. Nimrod was a mighty man who settled in the plains of Shinar and built many walled cities, his capital city is the most famous and it was also the place where false religion was born, it is none other than Babylon. Genesis tells us how the people of Babel desired to build a tower to heaven, to be like God. I want to share a little with you from Flavius Josephus, a Jewish Historian who lived in the first century. "Now it was Nimrod who excited them to such an affront and contempt of God. He was the grandson of Ham, sond of Noah, a bold man, and of great strength of hand. He persuaded them not to ascribe it to God, as if it was through his means they were happy, but, to believe that it was their own courage which procured that happiness. He also gradually changed the government into tyranny,-seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence upon his power. He also said he would be revenged on God, if he should have a mind to drown the world again; for that he would build a tower too high for the waters to be able to reach! and that he would avenge himself on God for destroying their forefathers! Now the multitudes were very ready to follow the determination of Minrod, and to esteem it a piece of cowardice to submit to God." It is a fact that God names people according to their character, and Nimrod was no different, we cannot know for sure when he recieved this name, but, God made sure it was the name Nimrod that was preserved for mankind in the Bible. Just what does Nimrod mean? Nonething less than, "The Rebel". Just as Satan had tempted Adam and Eve to become like God, so, now did Nimrod with his people in the post flood world. When the Bible calls him a mighty hunter before the Lord, it is not a good thing; he was not only a hunter of animals, but, a hunter of the souls of men. And when the Tower of Babel was constructed, it was nothing less than the first temple to a pagan God after the flood. As we see in Josephus, Nimrod cast aside patriarchal rule and communion with God to become the post flood's first tyrannical ruler, and would set the stage for future tyrants such as Nebuchadnezzar, the Pharoah's, the Caesars and even men such as Adolph Hitler or Slobodan Milosovic. The false religion introduced into Babel was a mixture and twist on two ancient Jewish custom's from pre deluge days, astronomy and the prophecies that spoke of a saviour of mankind born of a virgin. The people of Nimrod would worship the sun, moon and stars as God's, Nimrod who was the first Moloch (king) would become equated with the fire God Moloch among many other Gods. But, where it really gets interesting, is when we discuss his queen, Seriamis. Seriamis is said by ancient historians, to have become pregnant by an adulterous affair, and rather than have her husband find out, she either had him killed or he was killed, and afterward, she announced that she was a virgin, that she had been visited by Nimrod after his death and was impregnated by him, and that their child was was the saviour of mankind as spoken of by the ancient prophets, this child's name was Tammuz. Thus being the mother of a God, she was pronounced and worshipped as the Queen of Heaven, and the false religion of Madonna worship was born. And with the help of this arrogant couple, Satan was able to decieve the world and continues to this day.
