Childhood Friend
by: Gloria Sherwood
Sun and moons drift through our life,
As children we never could see.
We were to busy of fun loving hours,
Not knowing of our destiny.

We had grown so close in spirit,
Our lives filled with many a song.
My childhood friend was a sister,
Conversation would last all night long..

Through the years our contact was fewer,
As our path drifted somewhat apart.
How the joy in my heart ever lingers
She still lives inside of my heart.

A mother of children came to her,
We know what a joy this can be,
How the love overflows with gladness,
Not knowing of our destiny.

Days past by with abuse of her being,
of her spouse who was cruel and so mean,
If her love in her heart wasn't blinded,
Her destiny she would have seen.

Many moons ago I remember,
The life of my childhood friend.
Hours we'd spent in laughter,
Before her life came to an end.

The unjust will be judged by the Father,
The brutal death of my friend I hold dear.
His sentence on earth was nothing,
In front of God he will have to appear.

I know that this time is coming,
For then we all shall see.
God will show us all the big picture,
We shall see our destiny.

Until then I will wear this heartache,
How the hand that caused her life's end,
I pray that she knows how I loved her,
In the life of my childhood friend.
