Jesus was born approximately 6 B.C. in a world ruled by Rome. It was a pagan world where all kinds of God's were worshipped, from Jupiter to Adonis, and the world looked at the Jew's as odd and fanatical in their one God religious belief's, but, since Rome liked to consider itself tolerant of all forms of religion, Israel was allowed to continue with it's ancient religious practises. At the time of Christ's birth many Jew's believed Messiah would come, as a matter of fact they were waiting for Him diligently. And come He did, in the form of a newborn baby, born as prophecied, in the town of Bethlehem. He was roughly two years old when visited by the wisemen, after which, Joseph was warned by an angel that Herod was going to issue that famous decree to kill all children in Bethlehem two and under, so, Joseph fled with his family to Egypt where they would live until the death of Herod. After Herod died, Joseph brought his family to Nazerath where he would live his life as a carpentar. Jesus' childhood was a typical Jewish upbringing, he was steeped in the learning of the Law, he went to synagogue, and, history strongly suggests he had many siblings. Can you hear their voices?Hear the animals?See the moutains? When Passover had ended, it was time to pack up and go home, a day into the journey, Joseph and Mary realized that Jesus was not with the large caravan. They went crazy with worry and immediately headed back to Jerusalem. Can you imagine? If I were Mary I would have cried all the way to Jerusalem if I didn't know where my 12 year old was!! Afterthree days they found him at the Temple, let's see what the Bible tells us in Luke 2:46-49 "Jesus ws sitting in the Temple with the religious teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and wise answers. When Jesus' parents saw him, they were amazed. His mother said to him, "Son why did you do this to us? Your father and I were very worried about you. We have been looking for you." Jesus asked, "Why did you have to look for me? You should have known that I must be where my Father's work is!" This was the first glimpse the world was given of His divinity, and nearly twenty years later, He would change the world forever... To continue, click the next button.
