reading short story sequence

1. Listen to the Teacher's instructions.

2. Work With your partner to put a story into the correct order.

3. go to the art center and get glue, construction paper, and markers/crayons/colored pencils.

4. make a mini-book: paste the story part boxes into correct order on construction paper.

5. create a cover page for the mini-book with a title that you make up for the story and an illustration that goes along with the story.

6. answer the questions that go along with the story--staple to the back of your mini-book.

7. be sure that both of your names are on the mini-book, and put it into the correct completed work tray.


Story map

1. Listen to the Teacher's Instructions.

2. Work with your collaborative group to read the novel.

3. Complete daily assignments while you read the novel.

4. work individually to identify five major events in the story.

5. work collaboratively to choose the five most important events in the novel--use your individual lists to make one master list.

6. assign jobs to each group member.

7. determine sequence of your five major parts.

8. illustrate the event.

9. write a piece to go along with the illustration: why is this event important?  How did this event effect the characters? how would you react in this situation?

II. Second Main Point

  1. Transition into the paragraph

  2. Supporting points for the first main point

  3. Conclusion to this paragraph

III. Third Main Point

  1. Transition into the paragraph

  2. Supporting points for the first main point

  3. Conclusion to this paragraph

IV. Fourth Main Point (optional...you may use as many main points as needed to strengthen your essay)

  1. Transition into the paragraph

  2. Supporting points for the first main point

  3. Conclusion to this paragraph

V. Conclusion

  1. Transition into the paragraph

  2. Summation of the essay's main points

  3. Final remarks--should leave a lasting impression

4. use your outline to write the rough draft of your essay.
