McCoy was injured after being hit by A&M defensive end Michael Bennett, but the Texas quarterback was punished throughout the game by the entire A&M defense as he was sacked twice and intercepted three times.

"I feel bad for (McCoy)," said A&M safety Melvin Bullitt. "But that's the game of football; it's real physical."

The A&M defense continued its physical defensive play throughout the game, but for the third straight game, the Aggies were put in a situation where a stop had to be made.

After gaining possession of the ball with 2:32 remaining in the fourth quarter, and again with 33 seconds left, the Longhorns had chances to drive down the field and score.

But interceptions by linebacker Mark Dodge and safety Japhus Brown thwarted Texas' attempts at a game-winning drive. "We wanted to be on the field to finish it," Dodge said. "We wanted to start the game and finish the game."
