Fourth Annual Gospel Blast Set for May 4 at Midway Church of God
Gospel Blast 2002 will be held May 4 at Midway Church of God. The featured groups for the outdoor sing include the Masters, the Singing Reflectsons, the Yeomans Family, the Miracle Singers, By Grace and the Paffords. A special appearance will also be made by the Midway Church of God Kids Choir.
This year marks the fourth year in a row that Gospel Blast is being held. Gospel Blast was established in 1999 to raise money for charities and in Madison County and promote gospel music. Monies received from this year's Gospel Blast will be administered by the Beacon of Hope Ministries (the benevolence outreach of Midway Church of God). The Beacon of Hope will receive forty percent of the funds received from the event, with the remaining sixty percent being split equally among the local Salvation Army unit, Second Harvest of the Big Bend Food Bank and Consolidated Christian Ministries of Madison County. Rev. Retis Flowers, pastor of Midway Church of God, said that distributing monies to the other charities helped the Beacon of Hope and Midway Church of God extend helping hands outside of the immediate church and immediate community.
Gospel Blast 2002 promises something special for the whole family. In addition to the great gospel music, there will also be fun, games, clowns and puppets for the youngsters and those who are still youngsters at heart.
There is no admission charge for Gospel Blast 2002. A hot dog dinner will be available by donation.
Midway Church of God is located on Midway Church Road, south of I-10, exit 38, south of Lee, off Highway 255.
