Kingston Pen

Built in 1835 Kingston Pen was from the start a place of sadness and personal inner turmoil. In its years it has held men, women and children and some of Canada's most dangerous and famous criminals.

Countless numbers have died within these walls. Murder and suicide being the most common cause. Some from just old age and disease.

Of all the places in Kingston that should be haunted, this is the one you hear the least about, Kingston Pen.

The main cause of that is the people who work there. A belief in the supernatural or paranormal may be considered a sign of weakness by the inmates and that is something that they can not have.

Even just admitting that something out of the normal has happened to you is not repeated to your fellow workers. I know because I worked there for the greater part of my twenty five years as a Correctional Officer.

And now that I am retired and will not be going back in there I will say that many strange things happened to me and others in that place.

The following are just some of the stories I have compiled over the years.

The Prison Hospital

The old Diss Cells (or Hole)

The Wardens Residence

Elizabeth McNeil House

The Ghost in the Hobby Craft Shop

The Canvas Repair Shop

The Shop Dome
