Meet Our Horses

Pre applications must be filled out with site
and reference checks required.  We ask that all potential
new caregivers agree to come and work with the horse
while the application is being reviewed.
This is sort of a "lets get to know each other"
between the horse and new caregivers to be sure
that we have a match and both
are comfortable with each other.

We would like to take this oportunity to thank
The Seidman family for their generous donation
which helped get Cash and Katie
safely to the rescue, and for being BJ's "angel"
family and helping  with his expenses and needs.
Thank you so very much!

HORSES FOR PLACEMENT

New arrival
Keep Bill In Front

Bill is a 4 year old OTTB, gelding, 16.2H
he has a lovely head and nice mover.
He  has decided that he just doesn't want to race anymore.
He in  good health, has had no major injuries that would prevent him
from having another career. He could someones new show project!
Because we feel that these race horses have a lot of stress on
their legs at a young age, we don't allow high jumping.
Bill is being evaluated and having a little R&R
right now at his foster home and will be available soon.

He Owns The Bank (aka Cash)

"He owns the Bank" (aka: Cash) --4 yr old OTTB gelding, approx.16H bay. Cash is VERY sweet and easy to handle--he will make someone a wonderful pleasure or trail mount (no jumping homes due to prior fracture). We have re-started him under saddle and he's doing very well. Gentle boy that tries hard to please and has been very calm and behaved under saddle. Cash will crib if left inside without food--but a crib strap takes care of that (he does not crib while out or while he's eating-just when he's bored) He gets along well with other horses and is good for vet, farrier (he wears front shoes)--no vices ie: kicking, biting, etc. Cash is a love of a horse that is looking for his forever family!

Starrbuck

Starrbuck-- 6 yr old, approx. 14.3H bay TBX gelding. Starrbuck was born here at the rescue to a mare (Starr on our happy endings page)rescued from slaughter. Starrbuck was placed but just recently came back due to a personal family issue in his other home. This boy will love to be your buddy! He is VERY sweet and loving--easy to work with and around. Good for vet, farrier--no vices. Loves other horses and attention from people. We have re-started him under saddle and he's doing very well! With some more miles and trail experience he will make an excellent family horse. Please consider giving Starrbuck his forever home!

Placed!
Katie:

Approx. 14.3H, 23 yr old grade mare.
Katie just adores kids and is very gentle for them to groom
and fuss over.  Please don't let her age fool you--she
still has lots of spunk left in her and for that
reason, we are suggesting an advanced beginner to intermediate rider home.
However, she is also a  wonderful leadline pony for small children as
well. kids as young as 3 have been led around on her and she is very gentle.
No health issues other than a bit of arthritis  and is a very  easy keeper
(no lush pastures for this girl) Great for vet, farrier, etc.
She does not get along with other horses in a pasture setting,
so must be turned out alone.
She can be stalled next to, trail ridden with, hauled with other horses,
but cannot go out in a turnout with others. Katie has alot of life left
and alot of love to give, so please consider being her forever family!

Shea -This was when he came to us...

And below is now.....
WOW what changes that are so visible!

and now even more changes ( even when wet)!
Now a yearling!

Shea
He is here trying to be rehabilitated for a leg  injury
he suffered when he was only 2-3 days old.
He was to be euthanized
if we were not able to take him in.  We are working
closely with our veterinarian, Dr. Jeanne Best,
and so far this little one is doing much better.
Although his future is not 100 percent certain
until we see how he continues
to progress as he grows, he is getting
every chance at a happy,
comfortable life here at the rescue and
we are praying someday he is healthy enough to be placed
in a family all his own.
He has already worked his way into everyone's heart and
is a very sweet, special boy,
who also, is quite the little character!
Update:
Shea is progressing very well and is running and
playing like a normal yearling!
Although it will be some time before we can determine if he
willbe able to carry a rider,
we are very pleased with his progess so far.
He is a very sweet, loving young man!

A non resident we are assisting in placing
Kohl

Approx. 10-12 yr old dark bay, 16H, Holsteiner gelding.
Kohl is a companion only horse--meaning he is no longer rideable.
He has on and off lameness issues that may be related to some prior
neuro problems from being flipped.
He is a sweet boy that needs a home and a friend to call his own.
Kohl will crib if left in a stall, so needs a
home with daily turnout, or a run in situtaion.
He is passive with other horses and does no
t currently have any special needs
(meds/supplements, etc.).
There is no fee for this boy
and located in Shortsville, NY.

Handsome guy isn't he?

BJ
This is when he ws seized back

This is BJ now!

         BJ:
BJ is an approx. 21 yr old Argentine Polo Pony currently
undergoing rehabilitation  for a severe hoof issue that was not properly treated.
BJ has come back to us and unfortunately due to improper care in a foster situation
he has lost 100 of the 102 lbs we had put on him before he left for foster care.
Although we are hoping his full weight returns once again as he is back
on his proper feed program, the hoof issue has proved to be very severe.
Upon his initial return, his hoof was so badly infected and a large section completely
rotted away from that abcess/infection, that we were afraid we would have to euthanize him.
With some amazing work by our farrier, Scott Cacciatore, BJ pulled through and has proved
4 months later  to be a fighter and refuses to give up although he is still in pain.  At this time,
barring any major setbacks, we have approx. 18 months of rehab to go before
this hoof may be fully healed. BJ is a very loving, sweet, stoic horse
that has been the best patient.  He needs lots of good thoughts sent his way
and kind, generous people to help sponsor his care that will prove costly.
We are hoping one day he is well enough to find a family all his own.
Thank you to our special sponsor....
 Rosemary Winkelman
for taking this boy under her wings!

PERMANENT RESIDENTS
Due to various reasons,  these horses will be
with us for the rest of their days and because of that,
their expenses can be quite overwhelming.
Any sponsorships or donations that may help
with their day to day needs and care would be greatly appreciated!

Jack

Jack--approx. 13 yr old QHX gelding.  Due to the severe abuse he suffered,
Jack will remain a permanent resident of TMER.
We continue to work with him and he receives alot of love and attention.
He has shown alot of improvement and can be a very sweet boy.
Sponsors would be greatly appreciated
to help with his monthly expenses.

Buddy
an aged strawberry roan appy--due to his age and medical needs,
Buddy is a permanent resident of TMER.
He LOVES treats
and would also love a sponsor all his own!
