Hi Matt, seems you have forgotten all about my car and failed to inlude it within your list of surviving turbos a while back.
Matt says: Check out the Turbo gallery for a picture of Gareth's Turbo - G101KVV

Congratulations on a great website. Considering that the motoring press would have everyone believe that the '80s Austin/MG saloons are unloved, unwanted rusty wrecks, there are some damn fine websites out there devoted to these cars, full of useful information and pictures, and you can be proud that your site is one of them.
Matt says: Thanks for your kind words - Safety Fast!

Nice site. I also own one www.mgturbo.as.ro :)) I’m also desperate to see so many cars available in UK as here(Romania) you have to be the luckiest s… of a b… to only SEE one not to BUY one:((
I'm also desperate as I ruined my direction system and I'm lacking of spares

Hope keeping in touch, Lucian

Hi there Matt, like the web site.

I note that you said that Turbos were originally fitted with the Phillips R681 stereo cassette radio. By chance I was able to obtain one from a scrap yard for £3. Recoding will cost £ 17.50 - a veritable bargain! However do you have a copy of the operating instructions for this radio? Could you email me details or would it be possible to copy & post or fax it to me?

Many thanks for your efforts. Cheers, Richard

Matt says: I'll e-mail you about this request

I was looking at Maestros on the net because my dad recently got me one and I wanted to see if anybody out there still loved them. I've found loads of sites about Maestros and especially the Maestro turbo, which I've fallen in love with!

So I started looking for more pictures of Maestro turbos and everywhere I looked Matthew Semple's Maestro Turbo kept coming up. So I though I'd mosey on over and check out your site. I live in Scotland and most of the Maestros are gone now because of all the bloody rain, they've all rusted away, but my dad thinks that they're very reliable and easy to fix, so our houselooks like a Maestro convention because we've got 3 maestros on the road and 3 scrap ones lying about!!!

It's nice to find a place where the Maestro is being praised rather than slagged. Keep up the good work!! and if I'm welcome I'LL BE BACK!!
P.S. Sorry for ripping of Arnie's Catchphrase

Matt says: All fans of MG Maestros welcome, whether you own one or not. My Maestro ownership began with a 1983 1.3HLE

Hi, great site.
I have no 111 maestro turbo and a MG Maestro T16 .
Do you know of any clubs that I can join with the T16?

Matt says: The MG "M" Group has many members with T16 conversions - check out www.mgcars.org/mgm for details of how to join

Brilliant Site. Well done.
My car is just a rust bucket at the moment, having just bought it, but I hope to have it fully restored one day. By the way, I have been the previous owner of 2 MG EFi's in the past.

Matt says: Good luck with the restoration. E-mail me for details of how to get brand new alloy wheels for £25 each.

Hi Matt, Good site you have here, interesting reading. The press car you referred to F121 AOP - I know where this currently lives, I know this car very well and it has lived in Oxford since about 1991. I spoke with the owner only this week it's currently being refurbished. The owner has never been to an MG'M'Show so I will ensure that he takes It to the next show.

Matt says: F121 AOP is Tickford no. 48 and it was used on the 'Faster than a Ferrari' advert. Look forward to seeing you at MG Saloon Day.

Matt, wicked site mate. Just have a question about 2 maestros I used to own. I was wondering if any of you guys would no if they are still about. The first being a black MG Maestro 2.0EFi reg no.F744 OBJ which I converted to M16 and then to 8v Turbo (that was a great car) and the other was a red MG Maestro Turbo reg no.G802 SNK ... HAD GREAT FUN IN BOTH OF THESES CARS. Never know, may get another... best wishes keith

Matt says: Anyone out there own these cars now? The turbo is number 133. You should definitely get another one - check out the classifieds on the MG M Group website (see links).

Hi, just found the site, much appreciate anything about MG Maestros, liked very much all the info. I thought(or my wife did) I was the only lunatic in the country that was besotted with them till I joined MGM. I have got 3 turbos 1 red, 1 BRG and 1 recently restored white. I am in the process of restoring a blue T16 and much longer term a black T16 (poorly) Regards, Norman Dawson (Blackpool Area - near John Orrell)

Matt says: Three Turbos - great stuff. If you'd like to send pictures of them to me, I'll post them up in the Turbo gallery.

Hi Matt, Great to revisit your fantastic site.My 2.0i has been SORNed since my last visit pending a full restoration but I have now aquired a MG Maestro Turbo-conversion (E718 EUY). It's in excellent order and very fast (putting out about 180 bhp) The car was converted by Tracks of Exeter, according to the paperwork and it is a credit to them. Does anyone out there know anything of this cars' history? I would be glad to hear from them.

Matt says: Good to hear you have a new MG Maestro - does anyone out there know about this car or the company that does these conversions?

Matt, Great website lots of information here and it's useful to know that there are enthusiasts to talk to and I want to thank you for the help you have given me via the MG 'M' Group. This car is still loved and still bl@@dy awesome ! I have a couple of flash cars Merc E Class and an Audi A4 Ragtop but nothing puts a bigger grin on my face than taking No 117 out on a Sunday morning. heh Heh ! Keep up the good work and see you on a run / venue next year.

Matt says: Thanks for the kind words
