Owning and driving an MG Maestro is extremely enjoyable, so much so that many owners like to get together and discuss their cars. Maintenance tips and cheap spares as well as the social events are just a few advantages of joining a club. The following are the main clubs that MG Maestro owners join:
The MG "M" Group (1998) - this is the main club because it caters exclusively for the MG Metro, MG Maestro and MG Montego. Most members seem to own MG Maestros and the MG Maestro Turbo is extremely popular. For just £15 a year you get a membership card and four issues of the excellent quarterly magazine "Forward".
Performance MG Club - this club caters for all of the above and the MGF. If anyone knows the website address of the Performance MG Club, please e-mail me.
Maestro and Montego Owners Club - like the MG "M" Group, this club has a quarterly magazine and it organises events throughout the country in conjunction with classic car shows. Backed up by a fantastic website that is linked to the Maestroweb and has own members section. A good club to join if you own an MG Maestro 1600.
Front Wheel Drive Register (of MG car club) - Catering for MG 1100/1300, Metro, Maestro and Montego, this register of the MGCC organises events throughout the year and supplies regalia to owners.
MG Owners Club and MG Car Club - Two huge worldwide clubs that have a joint website and tens of thousands of members in every continent of the world.
MG Maestros (and MG Metros and MG Montegos) are always welcomed by MG clubs such as the MG Car Club and The MG Owner's Club. Many owners of older MGs have FWD MGs as everyday cars. These clubs attend regional shows as well as the national events and always welcome a FWD car on their stand.
The MG "M" Group has a South West Area Group or SWAG. They represent the MG"M" Group at classic car shows throughout the south west of England and have regular pub meetings. Most SWAG members seem to have MG Maestros although MG Metros and MG Montegos are encouraged.
