Lao List Statistics
As of February 14, 2002
The following statistics are derived from my research files that underpin the web site lists. The research file contains more entries than the web site since it is the master working file rather than the display medium. The dispariety between the two is my finding time to add the information to the display list.
The figures are in 8 categories.. They include the four primary military services that operated in Laos (Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force), US Government, Non-military flying organizations (Air America, CASI, etc.), Civilian and Unknown categories.
As of the 14 Feb 2002, there are 1151 names in the Alphabetic File. All the names in the Incident file are in this file, plus other names. There are 1135 names in the research file as represented in the table below. I have many names to add however. As part of the effort I created a card file with a card on each person. This has slowed data entry but provides a more enduring research record. Since the last update of the statistics in September 2001, the file has grown by 25 percent.
Category Number of Entries Percent of List U.S. Army 272 24.0% U. S. Navy 44 3.9% U. S. Marine Corps 20 1.8% U. S. Air Force 703 61.9% U. S. Government 21 1.9% Air America, CASI, etc. 51 4.5% U. S. Civilian Activities 14 1.2% Unknown Association 10 0.9%
Certain percentages seem to have stabilized. The Air Force number stays around 60% and the Army percentage near 25%.
