New to me, but ~~yes it's true ~~

Where to drop today ?

I read about this recently, in a magazine, it amused me so much that
I just had to do something with it, I hope you enjoy my efforts.
In Italy, where Bingo was not legal it was confined to family and friend gatherings
and in the rural areas they would all gather to play.

Now here is the interesting part - a field was marked out in numbered squares
= 100, each one was 10 x10 meters.
Everybody would buy a square. When all squares were sold the farmer would
bring the cow from the barn and put it in the field.
A most enjoyable picnic lunch and wine was available while they waited and
*waited* for the cow to drop a *cow pat* (hopefully in just one square)
The owner of that square was then declared the winner.
"Is that all there is to it" I hear you say - but - the cow may not oblige for hours
so the people just carried on drinking their wine. Sometimes it took
days for the results!


She sure did - ha ha

While surfing I found a tiny mention of a tourist playing Cow Chip Bingo.

~ Australia ~
On Australia Day I heard on the radio about a tiny rural area {Pine Creek
In the Northern Territory}that holds a Cow Chip Bingo Day each
year as part of their celebrations.

Unfortunately this year, January 2001, their one and only cow escaped
into the scrub.
The last I heard, they were still hoping the cow would return!!

Have just learned of the Bridgewater School, in the south of
Tasmania{Australia} who recently held a fete which included
Cow Pat Lotto, played in the manner of Cow Chip Bingo.

~America ~
It is now 5 days since I published this page and I have discovered
there really is nothing new under the sun.
