Katie's Story

I, too, have a subchorionic hematoma. This is my 2nd pregnancy with one.

Last year in my 1st pregnancy I was diagnosed with one. I also started bleeding at 6 weeks, but they didn't know I had a blood clot until I was 8 weeks pregnant. It didn't show up on the ultrasound until then. My bleeding came and went during the pregnancy (my episodes were usually heavy red bleeding and I sometimes passed clots). The clot/hematoma ranged in size during each ultrasound. At 14 weeks, I woke up with lower back pains and cramping. As the day went on, I started passing a lot of clots and started bleeding heavily. Due to the amount of blood I was losing, they admitted me to the hospital. The next morning, I had a miscarriage.

I am now 9 weeks pregnant. I started bleeding at 6 weeks once again. I have had 3 episodes of heavy red bleeding and I passed clots on one of those occasions. I am on semi-bedrest. The doctor has just ordered no house work and "house rest." He doesn't want me to leave home. Since I miscarried last year from the same problem, I've decided to put myself on bedrest (about 95% of the day). I haven't had any red blood bleeding for 2 weeks. I've been bleeding a lot of dark brown blood though. I figure it can only help! We are keeping positive thoughts and praying a lot.

My best advice is to take it easy. During my 1st pregnancy we were in the middle of a house remodel and I was under a lot of stress. I think the unnecessary stress definitely contributed to my miscarriage.

Best of luck to you!
