The Ibsen Adoption Network is a Washington state non-profit christian organization. Our purpose is to create a network that provides funds, educational and emotional support to families residing in Washington state who are in the process of adopting waiting children, difficult to place and/or special needs children.
Special needs usually refers to those children who are older who are part of a sibling group, may include children of color, if these children are waiting longer for adoption, and includes children who have special physical, emotional or developmental needs.
Selection of recipients shall be based on a combination of the needs of the child, cost of the adoption, and financial need of the family.
Financial need shall be assessed using the completed form which takes into consideration current family income, accumulated assets and family size.
Applicants must have completed home study and have a child designated or a referral assigned to them.
Grants generally range from $1000-$1,500. Grant payments will be made payable to an agency, not to individuals, at the time the child is placed.
No award shall be made to an agency, which discriminates as to race, creed or ethnic group.
No member of the Allocations committee is eligible to apply for assistance from the Fund. Any committee member or immediate family members of a committee member who wishes to apply, shall be eligible with the provision that the member not serve on the committee during the review process in which the application is considered.
Applications will be analyzed by the Allocations Committee which is appointed by the board of the Ibsen Adoption Network. Serving on this committee are both members of the Board and other community represenatives. After careful consideration, the Allocations committee submits its recommendations to the Board for final action. Recipients are notified as soon as possible.
Current grants will be made twice a year or as needed, based on availability of funds.
