Notes for JALEY HAM:
Barbara Childress, a descendant of Jailey's, wrote "I visited your web page and regarding Stephen Ham's will...
My ggg grandparents were David Gentry and Jaley Ham (you have it as Jaily, as I have seen a couple other times). Jaley was born 1-17-1799 died 5-4-1878. In my grandmother's Bible it was spelled "Jaley" Ham and also where she is buried it says "Jaley Ham Gentry".
David Gentry was born 4-27-1794, Estill Cty, Ky. died 9-10-1844 Estill Cty Ky. He and Jaley were married 5-12-1818. They had the following children:
(F) Rhoda Gentry
(F) Oney Gentry
(F) Spicey Gentry
(M) James H Gentry
(F) Martha Gentry
(M) Pleasant Gentry
(M) Bailey Gentry
(M) David W. Gentry
David Gentry also had a brother named Pleasant. Since my gg grandfather Pleasant was not born yet, I think the Pleasant Gentry referred to in the court documents was David Gentry's brother.
I have no record of a child born to David and Jaley by the name of Richard. David had a brother a year younger than he was named Richard, so it's possible.
David and Jaley Ham Gentry were both buried in the Old Red Lick Church Cemetery on Old Red Lick Road in Estill Cty, KY. Some of their children were buried there too, but I don't know which ones.
Thanks. I did get some information on Jaley's family, which is what I went to your site to see. I have more information on generations beyond David and Jaley in the Gentry line, if you have interest."
Both are buried in the : Old Red Lick Cemetery
Stephen Ham was the bondsman listed on his daughter Jaily's marriage license.
