The Movie

Ok here's the skinny on Beetle's and my movie

My friend Tom "Beetle" Bailey and I went to a military school(I decline from saying the name at this point). While going, Beetle and I would sit back and make fun of everyone and everything in a useless attempt to stay sane. Well, We realized how many funny things always happened and how many eccentric people there were that belonged in a movie, and one day it hit us like a ton of bricks (no really, I still a have the scar to prove it), LET'S MAKE A MOVIE!!!! Ofcourse it's a comedy. So we sat back and observed everything and wrote it down and created characters and scenes based on real people and events and even real conversations. I would also walk around with a tape recorder in my shirt pocket, which is where alot of the dialogue will come from. Then we twisted it all around like a mutated pretzel and thus the ultimate epiphany known to us as the movie "Military School" was set into fruition. But it is still far from coming into light, because of time, laziness, and things such as money. We haven't completed the script and alot is getting in the way. This is an email I sent to someone that sums it all up. I don't feel like writing anymore anyway:

Everything in the movie is basically a parody of our time in military school. A good bit of it will be based on real people and events, but slightly exaggerated and absolutely no blatant reference to the real person who inspired the character or scene(unless with permission). But we do have actual conversations that took place almost word for word. It's kind of has a humor style mixed with Monty python, airplane/naked gun and something some aliens on acid would probably make. It's kind of absurd realism. We haven't solidified the whole storyline but here's the basic idea:

Two kids(beetle and I) are sent to Military school in the tenth grade. They meet each other, become friends, and slowly (and quickly in some parts) make their journey towards graduation. Along the way, they encounter friends, foes, acquaintances, assholes, and other worldly apparitions of the most extreme and eccentric kind. Right in front of their eyes they witness a system set on complete perfection and order full of completely imperfect and chaotic humans which naturally creates a greater amount of chaos and of course, humor. My character has to struggle with the fact that the school prides itself on athletic, academic, and military success, three things which my character is very unsuccessful at. He's basically a weed in their perfect garden. My character has to then figure out how to come to any sense of self worth when the entire system is set against him. And of course you get to watch him stumble all over the place before finally coming to a resolution, which I will get to in a moment. Beetles character is the same but not to the extreme, he can at least hide his scrub nature. Another main character is based on our friend Ricky Castillo, basically as our friend who is a loud mouthed cursing copy of Joe Pesci(See the movie "Good Fellas"). For the beginning of it, one would think it is just a funny comedy about two kids in military school, until a mysterious figure with a hook for a hand appears, who sits in a chair turned away from view, with only an arm and hook showing, and spins a hideous plot to use the military school as a cover for his diabolical plan(kinda of a rip off of Dr. Claw from the cartoon inspector gadget). All the other characters go unaware of this until the main characters discover a labyrinth of hidden passage tunnels underneath the school, full of stuff that obviously indicates that something is not right. They then have to find a way to stop the villain from completing his plan while still keeping their knowledge secret in fear of being exposed, and still making sure they graduate(okay, that part didn't happen in real life, but it could have).

The movie also has characters that ambiguously represent different races, religions, and personalities that make up society and humanity as a whole. There will most likely be a lot of logical riddles and play on words as well, not to mention extremely thought provoking discussions on God, reality, society, science, politics, you name it. The movie's kind of like a reflection of what it means to be human and it really shows the dynamics behind chaos and order, individuality and society, freedom and oppression, peanut butter and jelly, good and evil, yin and yang. So there you go. I guess beetle and I conceived something that's way over our heads and ability, but I'm just hoping that we can find some people in the near future who have the knowledge and ability to help bring this to fruition. It's just so hard to develop it anymore than we have right now because were both in school and have no time. But once I get some free time I'm going to finish it and start trying to spread the word. So if I kick myself(and beetle especially) in the ass and really get to it, I think the script could be done in less than a year and then it's all up to finding the right people. So I'll keep you posted on whatever happens, as of now we can only hope for the best.

I thought I might put a character profile up for each character and also scenes and stuff, but that might not be a good idea. I'll have to talk to my associate first. If anyone has some questions about the movie or whatever, leave it in the guestbook or message board or email me at spinaljellyfish@hotmail.com
