At least a half-day was spent at each school. The committee spoke to the principal and/or headmaster, teachers and students. All areas of the Information (or Computer Studies) implementation were graded based on the following points:

Syllabus being taught including new concepts ..... Internet and E-mail facilities to students ..... comfort-level of students ..... savvy-ness of teachers & students ..... attitude of management/teachers/students ..... effectiveness of the teaching ..... type of hardware & condition ..... software available on the school to the students ..... fees that the students were being charged ..... books, magazines, related extras available ..... availability of multimedia systems ..... awareness of upgrades & maintenance ..... use of computers as teaching aids for other subjects and during after-school hours ..... etc.

In short, almost every area of the schools IT implementation was checked. Survey sheets were used, which are currently being analyzed for statistics.

The CSI Schools Award committee graded the schools on the different points, and came-up with a list of the "Top 3" schools. The finalists were visited again, and a final decision arrived at. What was interesting, was that the difference in points between the top 3 schools was below 10% between each of the schools.

Congratulations to St Francis Xavier's High School, Mapusa for the excellent IT implementation this year. Keep up the good work.
