Let's see ... I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained that
she didn't want any prayer in our schools,
....... and we said OK.

Then, someone said you had better not read the Bible in school ~ the Bible
that says "thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself."
And we said, OK.

Remember Dr. Benjamin Spock, who said we shouldn't spank our children
when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped,
and we might damage their self-esteem?
And we said, an expert should know what he's talking about,
so we won't spank them anymore.

Then someone said that teachers and principals better not discipline
our children when they misbehave. And our administrators said ... whoa, no one
in this school better touch a student when they misbehave because we don't want
any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued.
We accepted their reasoning.

And then some wise school board member said that since "boys will be boys," and they're going
to find them anyway, let's give them all the condoms they want. Then they can do what they please,
and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.
We said, sounds like a great idea.

Then someone said, let our daughters have abortions if they want,
and they won't even have to tell their parents.
And we said, that's a grand idea.

Then some of our top elected officials said that it doesn't matter what we do
in private as long as we do our jobs.
And we said, it doesn't matter what anybody, including the President,
does in private as long as we have jobs and the economy is good.

Someone else said we'll have pornographic sites and even publish pictures
of nude children, making them all available on the Internet.
And we said ..... everyone's entitled to free speech.

The entertainment industry said we'll make TV shows and movies that promote
profanity, violence and illicit sex ..... and we'll record music that encourages
rape, drugs, murder, suicide and satanic themes.
And we said .... well, it's just entertainment and has no adverse effect;
nobody takes it seriously anyway .... go right ahead.

So now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience,
why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them
to kill strangers, classmates or even themselves !

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out.
I think it has a great deal to do with ...

Mary had a little Lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.

He followed her to school each day,
When it wasn't against the rules.
He made the children laugh and play,
To have a Lamb at school.

Then the rules changed one day,
Against the law it became.
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name.

Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh and play,
You heard them crying tears.

What must we do to stop the crime
That's in our schools today?
Let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray.

The story behind it is this ~~ Carol Josey teaches a children's class at church and she was using a lamb puppet
in class when the words to "Mary had a Little Lamb" came to her head. The Lord told her to write it
and she said, "Lord everyone knows that poem." He said to write it anyway. When she got home,
she began to write and she realized the words were not the same as our familiar nursery rhyme.
He began to reveal to her that Mary (Jesus' Mother) had a Little Lamb (Jesus).
