"Freedom"
by Erica Meyers

The other day someone told me that it was a beautiful day
They said the sun was bright and warm
I wish I could see the sunlight,
But the darkness keeps me from seeing
I wish I could feel the warmth of the sun on my face
But the darkness keeps me cold

The darkness keeps me prisoner in my own mind
I want out
I want to be free I need to be free
I need to feel again
I am numb with sadness

I pray that God will take me from the darkness into the light
But where is he?
Does not hear me?
Or am I too hidden in the darkness for him to find me?

Darkness feeds the emptiness inside me
The loneliness eats away at me
Is there a way to fight the darkness?
Please help me free my soul from this pain

I am drowning in the darkness I cannot breathe
Gulping the blackness of my pain
It is pulling me under

Help me be free
Freedom, I need freedom
