Misanthropic Issues isn’t the normal run of the line newsletter that readers would come into contact with. I can speak for all of the Misanthropic staff when I say that I am sick of being ridiculed for clothes I wear and for the utterly disgusting attitudes I come into contact with on a daily basis. Just because people aren’t Christian or Catholic does not mean under any circumstances that they are a bad person, they just have their own belief that aren’t Christian or Catholic. All of the staff and I have come into contact with numerous people of the Christian and Catholic religion who are far more involved in “immoral practices” than the majority of atheist and/or agnostic population. That doesn’t mean all Christians or Catholics are bad. In the bible, it states; “Judge not, that ye be not judged”(Matthew 7:1). I am of the belief that people should have a sound mind and sound will, on their own. I strongly reject any belief system that doesn’t encourage independent, rational thoughts and criticism (i.e.: Christianity.) I think it is absolutely ridiculous that the new generation along with the old, need “god” to fulfill their lives. A pity they need the lure of a heaven, and the threat of a hell, to do that which many of us do which comes natural: be moral. There is nothing wrong with someone believing what they see, and not a mythical idea or concept. Myth…you readers might ask? According to the Webster’s Dictionary, a myth is: “A traditional story dealing with supernatural ancestors; a person or thing having only an unverifiable or imaginary existence.” Here is a question to ponder; is god verifiable? Proof requires tangible, physical evidence..
This year has been the worst out of the three years I have attended High School. I was asked in one of my classes, “Did you know that your cross is upside down?” I didn’t know what to say, how could I not have known it was upside down? Of course I knew, and I find nothing wrong with wearing a cross upside down, right side up, or even side ways for that matter. The person then responded with, “That’s scandaless… that’s the devil.”
Inverted means “turning upside down, to invert the position.” The position of the cross has a Christianity/Catholicism belief of “God” and “Satan”. If something is inverted, it’s the total opposite, hence not believing in “God” or “Satan.”
This newsletter isn’t just for that reason alone. I read the Pepper Bough when it comes out, I go straight to the CD reviews, just to laugh at the bands that are reviewed: Limp Bizkit, Blink 182, and Snoop Dogg. It is a total insult to the true metal bands when Korn is reviewed as a metal band.
Misanthropic Issues will have a CD review section specifically for metal. Also, the staff is sure that people want to know about the new and upcoming shows in Southern California, so Misanthropic Issues will have a section dedicated to shows billed to The Showcase, The Glasshouse, among other shows in LA. Also, we are trying to get bands to do interviews for Misanthropic Issues. Hopefully we will have a few lined up in the upcoming issues.
Each issue of Misanthropic, we are hoping to have questions posted for the readers to respond to. The newsletter will have a variety of poetry, comments that the readers wish to put into the newsletter, along with other rambles of the staff.
