Today we willhave a segment featuring the 3rd top searched term as of last Friday, according to Wordtracker, Eminem. You may freely copy the entirety of the following to your website (or use our RSS feed on the right), provided you include the author's name and a link to this site, provided at the end.

All About Eminem

Eminem was born October 17, 1972. His biggest single was 2002's "Loose Yourself," and his biggest LP was 2000's "Marshall Mathers LP. He's even been nominated for 9 Grammies. We'll include more details about his musical successes at the end of this article.

"My insecurities? I'm dumb, I'm stupid, I'm white, I'm ugly, I smell and I'm white...I wanna kill myself...My nose is crooked...um, my penis is small." (Eminem, 2000)

Discounting all that, Eminem has done fairly well for himself, considering his humble beginnings. He was born in Kansas, and raised in Detroit. His interest in rap music came about as a way to escape his teenage years. And who doesn't? Wish we could all meet his successes! During his youth, he move around a lot, didn't have much money, and was constantly picked on by the neighborhood bullies.

His uncle Ronnie was his own age and influenced him greatly, even introducing him to rap. Eminem ultimately dropped out of high school, while Uncle Ronnie shot himself at age 19.

But even all these hardships didn't slow Eminem down much. Starting in 1997, Eminem came in 2nd at LA's Rap Olympics.

Then, in 1998, Dr Dre signed Eminem and he released the (in)famous Slim Shady. In 1999, he was the #83 Singles f the year, followed by #21 Singles Artist in 2000. In 2001, he still made it to the top 200, coming in at #175.

2002 was a banner year, with Eminem coming in at #9 singles artist of the year, Followed in 2003 by spot #14. 2004 continued his slow downward trend in the Singles artist of the year charts, with a #18 placing, but 2005 saw an upsurge in popularity.

Not only was Eminem nominated for 3 Grammies, but he had a number of Top 40 hits, including "Like Toy Soldiers," "Ass like That," "When I'm Gone," and "Shake That." "When I'm Gone" also made it to the top 10.

A Primer on Google

The very term Google is a play on the math term googol, which is a 1 followed by 100 zeros. Google the company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998. The number 1 search engine began as a research project when Page and Brin were PhD students at Stanford. Their hypothesis was that relatioships between sites would produce better search results than what was used at the time.

Dr. Eric Schmidt, formerly CEO of Novell, was named CEO of Google after Larry Page stepped down.

Google is now located in Mountain View, California.
Google's stated purpose is to "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful," while being "not evil."

As promised, we will provide an article based on WordTracker's Friday list of current top keywords. The Friday list gave Christmas as top searched keyword. You may freely copy the entirety of the following to your website, provided you include the author's name and the link to this webpage.

Christmas Origins

Although scholars are uncertain about the exact date of Christ's birth, December 25 was chosen in 336 CE by the Holy Roman Emperor Constantine, the first Christian emperor.

Eighteen years later, in 354 CE, Liberius, the bishop of Rome, made December 25 official for Christianity and adapted the holiday from a Roman holiday celebrating the birth of the sun.

Due to changing calendars, though, even the year of Christ's birth is unknown. Many scholars attribute the event to 4 BCE.

The December celebration was banned in England and her American colonies in the 17th century by Oliver Cromwell. He was protesting the pagan origins of such Christmas memorabilia as Christmas trees, which the druids worshipped.

Over the course of time, these strict guidelines were beginning to loosen. Sparked by literary works such as "A Christmas Carol," the celebration of Christmas became popular again. Alabama was the first state to make Christmas an official holiday, and by 1907, every contiguous state had a Christmas holiday.

You can copy the articles for your own site, as long as you copy the entire article, which includes a backlink to this site.

Search Engines go BETA!!!
Mood:  loud
Topic: Create + Promote Blogs
Gary Price, in the most recent edition of Search Engine Watch, lists links to Beta pages currently being worked on by the top search engines. He openly states that he prefers Tpox.net's Newsrank algorithm, but I find it unsatisfying for blogs. The result of me putting USA Today in a shredder would give me top stories that had more to do with one another. That being said, here is my gut analysis of the betas.

Calling itself "All things Beta," Yahoo proves its point a little too well. Most of the offerings on next.yahoo.com are rehashings of what Yahoo already has or has better versions available elsewhere. Nonetheless, podcasts are the next wave of the future, and you should make sure yours is listed in Yahoo Podcasts. The other thing of interest to we bloggers is the RSS support found in My Web 2.0, a souped-up version of My Yahoo.

I didn't find anything that really interested me at Google Labs, but sandbox.msn.com had a couple of items of note. YIKES!!! The sandbox DOES exist! ;> The Sandbox bills itself as a 1-stop shop to "make the web faster, more organized, and personal." Shoot, I'd marry here if I weren't already taken. Anyway, they have a good Anti-spyware download (still in beta, so beware of upgrades) and Netscan, a wonderful Usenet news reader.

Aol's Betas include a spyzapper download and something they call "1-click fixes" for your computer.

Have a great day, and please check out the following link!

"An Internet Marketing Tutorial..." Goes Global!
Mood:  hug me
Topic: Create + Promote Blogs
Good evening and welcome to An Internet Marketing Tutorial for the rest of us. I just went to Blog Stats at Blog Explosion and clicked the little graph marked Site Stats.

Come to find out, in the past week alone this blog has received visitors from virtually every time zone in the world, except for a few in Africa and East Asia. So I want to wish a hearty welcome to all our international friends.

The breakdown it gave me of the languages my visitors speak was enlightening, too. Besides English, our visitors speak French, German, Dutch, Danish, Malay and Taiwanese. For you I have included the translation capabilities of Babel Fish by Altavista. Just click the flag of the country you are from and the page will be translated for you into your native tongue. I've tested it and it works very well.

What to do when your XP Freezes
Mood:  chillin'
Topic: Create + Promote Blogs
If you are promoting your blog in any of the traditional methods, such as by auto- or manual surf exchanges, or you accidentally open an email from a spammer, you probably have some spyware or adware residing in your PC, giving you pop-ups at the most inconventient times, and generally slowing down your PC. Courtesy of our friend Fast Eddie at ProgramFiles.com, we have some step-by-step solutions for your slow PC.

1) Run the following free trial spyware and virus scanners:

http://security.symantec.com
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
http://www.freedom.net/viruscenter/index.html

2) Install the (Beta) Windows Live Security Center

FREE* XBOX 360™ Promotion!

3) Go to Windows Update and select "Custom" to see if there are any Windows patches not automatically downloaded.

4) Run Spyware Doctor. The free version works wonderfully.

5) Run Registry Mechanic.

Hope these help!

15 Tips to Bring More Traffic to your Blog
Mood:  loud
Topic: Create + Promote Blogs
Today I have a great resource article by Kevin Oorlynck. If we all (including me) do the things he mentions we could have much greater online success.

There are many factors that make blogs much better than normal WebPages including the speed at which blogs are indexed, ability to submit to blog directories & normal directories, pings and track backs. All these little things can help drive more traffic to blogs. Here are 15 popular techniques you can use:

1. Create at least four keyword posts per day. Most of the top blogs such as Boing Boing, Daily Kos, and Instapundit (with literally tens of thousands of visitors per day) publish an average of 30 small 100-150 word posts per day according to "Secrets of the A-list Bloggers: Lots of Short Posts" by TNL.net

2. Submit to My Yahoo! When you submit your own RSS to My Yahoo it is indexed by Yahoo.

3. Submit to Google's Reader. When you submit your own blog RSS to Google's Reader the Google Blog Search will index your site.

4. Add a relevant link directory to your blog and trade links like a demon possessed! Although it may take more time than simply submitting to a search engine one time, this method is perhaps the best way to drive traffic to your site. Use software such as Zeus to speed up the link trading process.

5. Use ping sites like ping-o-matic. Ping your site every time you add a new post. (And be sure to utilize the Daily Ping feature to the right!)

Hate your job? Post your resume on HotJobs.com and find a new one today!

6. Submit your blog to traditional search engines such as AltaVista, and MSN.

7. Submit your blog to traditional directories such as DMOZ. Directories (particularly DMOZ) increase relevance with Google. DMOZ is very picky, but what do you have to lose by trying?

30 day Free Trial of EasyOfficePro. A Complete Microsoft Office 2003 Alternative.

8. Submit to as many RSS Directories and Search Engines as possible. This is a simple but repetitive process that can be done with software such as RSS SUBMIT.

9. Comment on other blogs. Do not just leave short, lazy comments like "I agree." Leave well thought out replies that will force readers to wonder "who wrote this?"

10. Use track backs. If there is a blog that you refer to or quote and it is highly relevant to your subject, leave a track back. It increases your link popularity and may even score a few interested readers from the linked site.

Listen to two FREE audiobooks RISK-FREE from Audible

11. Go offline. Use newspaper ads, public bulletin boards, business cards, even stickers to let as many people as possible know your blog exists.

12. Add a link to your blog in your e-mail signature block.

13. Use Groups (Usenet). Find a relevant group on Google groups, Yahoo groups, MSN groups or any of the thousands of other FREE group services and find like minded people and talk with them. Make sure to use your blog URL like it is your name.

14. Use Forums. Forums are one of the best places to go for advice. Go to forums and find problems to solve. Make sure you leave your blog name, but be tactful about it; some forums get annoyed with those who selfishly drop a few links to their own site and leave.

Instant iPod Winners at www.OpinionSquare.com!

15. Tag your website. Tagging is a new idea that has erupted across the web. Sites like Del.icio.us, Technorati and many others have a social feature that allows you to place your article under keywords or "tags" that everyone interested in that tag can see.
