*The Integumentary System* The Integumentary system is your skin,hair,and,nails,which protect underlyning tissue. The skin your in:Skin protectes you by keeping moisture in your body and it covers foreign particles of your body.Skin helps to regulate your bodys temperature,We have small organs called "weat Glands" which produce sweat a salty liquid that flows to the surface of the skin as sweat evaporates and the skin cools.Beneath the surface,Your skin is a complex organ made of blood vessels,nerves,glands,and muscles. Here are a couple of vessels and glands. *Blood vessels- Transport substances and help regulate body tempature. *Nerves- Caryy messages to and from the brain. *Muscles fibers- Attached to a hair folicle can contact causing the hair to stand up. *Hair folicles- In the dermis produce hair. *Oil glands-Release oil that keeps hair flexible and helps waterproof the epidermis. *Hair & Nails* Hair- hairs protect skin from ultra violet light and can help keep particles such as dust and insects, Out of your eyes and nose. Like skin,hair gets it's color from the pigment melanin.
