Tha Apostle

"One sent forth."
This was the name our Lord gave the twelve he chose to be his
companions during his ministry on Earth. And who he "sent forth
" to represent him after his ascension in heaven. The title was also applied to others who,
though not of the number of the twelve, were equal to them in office and in dignity.
Paul repeatedly speaks of himself as an apostle. He applies the word to James, Jesus' brother,
and to Barnabus. The word is also used in a non-official sense, to designate a much wider circle
of Christian messengers and teachers.
I have been sent forth by the Lord Jesus Christ to represent him and minister his word.
