French Assessment

For the French part of culminating activity, students will be expected to either choose or create a poem, song or theatrical scene in French (they can translate a song they like into French or lip-synch to a French song) and perform it live (this can also be done in groups). Students who don’t want to perform will have other options such as writing texts for others to perform, setting up the stage (or performance area), finding props, helping with costumes, working on music, etc. Each student will be given copies of the texts performed. The next day – last day of the unit – students will take a French written test in which they’ll be asked to answer basic questions on the performances they saw at the poetry slam and on the presentations done in class. They will also engage in an oral discussion with the teacher describing what they liked and didn’t like about the unit and what they learned from it. Each student who participated in the slam will get full credit for it. Students who didn’t participate in the slam due to extenuating circumstances will have to make up for it through different types of assignments to be discussed with the teacher.
