Facts about Michelle
Michelle Rodriguez got her first roles in "Summer of Sam" and "Cradle Will Rock." (She was uncredited extras in these movies.) Her first major role in where she stole the spotlight was in "Girlfight," she played lead as Diana Guzman. Major props to that because there was 350 other girls trying to get that role! She was also offered a place in the pro female boxing league. Through this movie she earned awards like the Deaxville Festival of American Cinema award for Best Actress, the Las Vegas Film Critics Society for Female Breakthrough Performance and the National Board of Review Award for Breakout Performance of the Year. After that soon followed roles in "3 A.M." (played Salgado) and "Fast and the Furious" (played Letty). Her next big roles and breaks came in "Resident Evil" (played Rain Ocampo), "Blue Crush" (played Eden), and "S.W.A.T." (played Chris Sanchez). More accreditations would be when she did voices in video games. "True Crime: Streets of LA" (voice of Rosie Velasco) and "Driv3r" (voice of Calita). I guess we're also waiting for "Control" to pop up sometime soon. It stars Ray Liotta, and I think Michelle might only have a small part. I couldn't find much information about her in this movie. Currently she is working on two movies, "Sian Ka'an" (she does a voice in this) and "Bloodrayne" (plays Katarin). The first one is due out sometime before the year is over and I believe it is an anime, but don't quote me, and "Bloodrayne" is due out in 2005. As far as her personally, she was born in Texas, lived there until she was 8 then her family moved to the Dominican Republic. At age 11 the family moved to Jersey City. She was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. Growing up she got kicked out of 6 different schools! (Kind of sounds like me!) I've heard rumors of her dating Vin Diesel, but currently she is dating Brazilian model named Christian. Michelle was arrested in April 2002 for an assult on her roommate, luckily charges were dropped and she served no time. Can we say this is one bad ass chick? So now about my personal opinion. I love this chick! She's so freaking awesome! I read this quote saying she's turned down sexy roles and even a steamy shower scence because she doesn't want to become the next J.Ho, I mean J.Lo. Well as long as she doesn't try to shorten her name or make it into something stupid like famous people do, she'll always be my favorite. The movie "Blue Crush" has incredible acting in it. I can relate to a lot of what her role was, especially living in Hawaii. Well here's some interesting facts about our lady. She has been sentenced to serve community service at a morgue, after being convicted of driving offenses (June 9, 2004). She faces eight misdemeanor charges after she was caught driving fast and furiously twice on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles (November 20, 2003). She refuses to play maid roles. She is turning down sexy roles - because she hates being an object of lust. Dropped out of school at 17 after having been kicked out of 6 different schools. While Michelle stayed with her grandmother for several years in Puerto Rico, she was taught to be a Jehovah's Witness. She later abandoned the religion because she felt it restricted her too much.
