The Band
*Year founded=1988, when they were about 12 years old
*Genre=Hiphop-Metal-Funk-Surf-Dub-Ska-Disco
*They recorded a 12 song cassette in 1996.
*How did they come up with the name, The Salads? "When we started to jam we would smoke a lot of pot and hash, we'd mix it all up and call it the Salads!" Chuck.
*Inspirations? "We all have different inspiration. Three of us like… Van Halen and Kiss." Chuck.
*Used to have a mysterious dancer named Lybido, who left the band in 2004

Chuck D
*Graduated from Humber College.
*He has been teaching at Cosmo Music since 1997.
*What pizza topping is he most like? "Pineapple cause I'm so sweet." Chuck.

Mista D
*Real name=Darren Dumas.
*Joined forces with The Salads in September 1997.
*What pizza topping is he most like? "I'm the special sauce. Yeah, spicy. I'm the hot sauce. I'll be the hot sauce on your pizza baby." Mista D.

Dave Z
*He teaches guitar at the York Region Music Centre, Junior Rock Class
*I asked what some facts about Dave Ziemba are, and the response from Dave Z. was, "all the facts you need to know about me are.. I like beer and boobies. oh my phone number is 555 1212."

Grant
*He teaches Drumming at the York Region Music Centre, Junior Rock Class.
*Drummer Grant Taylor says as teenagers the band listened to everything from Kiss to The Police. “You are a product of all of your influences,” he explains.

My Over the Internet Interview(sort of)
1)Who do you look up to?
Chuck-"Most everybody. I'm short."

Mista D-"Angelo Moore (lead vocalist in Fishbone) and Luciano (reggae vocalist) ...2 kats that are still rockin their live shows with energy like no one else in their age catagories!"



2)If you were not part of the band, what would you most likely be doing for a living?
Chuck-"Producing records, Managing rock bands, teaching guitar. Whatever it is I wouldn't be in a suit."

Mista D-"I'd either be a graphic designer or continuing to pursue a musical career with another band."



3)What is one thing that you have always wanted to try?
Chuck-"Flying like a bird."

Mista D-"I've always wanted to surf....and I will one day!"



4)What band do you listen to the most?
Chuck-"Impossible to answer. I try to change it up as much as possible everyday...(Yesterday: Pantera, Micheal Hedges, NOFX, Miles Davis, Soulfly, Jack Johnson)... Although lately, after flipping thorugh 100's of discs, I can just listen to Zebrahead over and over again and not get tired of it. Those guys write awesome pop tunes!"

Mista D-"That's a tough one....At this point in time, I'd have to say N.E.R.D (aka The Neptunes). Their album is very addictive, AND they've produced soooo many killer hits for other people! Runners up in this catagory...Fishbone, and Sublime."



5) How would you describe yourself?(hyper, easygoing, friendly, etc.)
Chuck-"Manic. One minute happy, energetic and excited. The next minute angry, tired and doomed. So I would describe myself, and I'm sure the other guys could vouch for this: Very hard to live with."

6)Where do you think the Salads will be in ten years?
Chuck-"Drunk and Naked."

Mista D-"Rockin' big-ass outdoor festivals around the world and dominating the Billboard charts."
