Buddhism

In Northern India, a new religion was born. It became the rival of Hinduism. That religion is called Buddism. The founder of this religion was Siddhartha Guatama. Siddhartha was born around 563 B.C. He was the son of a ruling princely family. He married at young age of sixteen and began to raise a family. He had everything good in his life. Everything was well for him until his late twenties. Siddhartha became aware of the pain of illness, the sorrow of death, and the effects of oldage on people . So he decided to spend his life seeking the cure for human suffering. Siddhartha gave up everything and set off to find the true meaning of life. This is how his party began. Siddhartha first tried to follow the people who who practiced self-denial as a means of achieving an understanding of ultimate reality which was an example of the ascetics. The abuse of his physical body did not lead him to a greater understanding of life, however. It only led him to a close brush of death from not eating anything. He stopped this technique and began doing an intense period of meditation. Meditation was a way to find oneness with God in Hinduism belief. One evening while Siddhartha was meditating under the Bo Tree, Siddhartha finally reached enlightment as a meaning of light. So he spent the rest of his life preaching what he had discovered. His teachings became the basic principles of Buddhism. It isn't certain or not if Siddhartha intended to create a new religion. Siddhartha challenged people to be responsible for their own lives such as "Do not accept what you hear by report. Be lamps unto yourselves". Siddhartha also accpeted much of the belief system of Hinduism, but not all of it. Siddhartha preached this message which was based on the Four Noble Truths: (1)ordinary life is full of suffering: (2)this suffering is caused by our desire for selfish goals and to see others as extensions of ourselves; and (4)the `way to end desire is to to follow the MiddlePath. This Middle Path is also known as the Eighthfold Path because it consists of eight steps: Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right mindfulness, and Right Concentration. This is a religion that me personally would never join or accept. Some of the things that the Hindus do and believe I can agree with, but others are just ridiculous. We believe whoever believes in this religion is blinded. WORDS YOU MAY NOT KNOW RELIGION-a group of people who believes in something like Chrsitians. HINDUISM-the common religion of India BUDDHISM-a religion orginated in India by Budda which later spreads through China SIDDHARTHA GUATAMA-the founder of Buddhism MEDITATION-the act of meditating
