There are numerous versions of why the name "Bloods" was chosen. One version is that all of these gangs had one common goal: to spill the blood of crips so there was the name. Another version is that because Crips claimed the color Blue to identify themselves, the rival gangs chose red. Since red is the color of Blood, there was the name.
The Bloods are a loosely affiliated organization of many different street gangs. And just like the Crips not all Blood sets get along. But all Bloods will stand together to fight Crips 99% of the time.
The Bloods have never been able to amass the sheer numbers that the Crips have been able to . To make for up this the Bloods have always been the more violent of the two gangs.
