No More Police Brutality or Profiling
We are living in dangerous times. In the years since 9/11, every politician and law enforcement official have hidden behind its name to justify THEIR terrorist activity. Many Muslims have been categorized and profiled as terrorists. Military prisoner abuse scandals have only added on to cases of police brutality. Any abuse of an officer in use of his or her badge is an act of brutality regardless of whether its nature is physical, verbal, or a misuse of authority. The same goes for state and federal authorities. Jails are filled because of overzealous cops and prosecutors who many times break the law rather than uphold it. Some of these laws are ridiculous and others are used via an institutionalized form of genocide and racism. The rich get slaps on their wrists for some crimes while those less fortunate get years for petty ones. While I'm expressing my views on the laws that these "peacemakers" are sworn to enforce, I cannot forget about the 3 strikes law. Twenty five years is a long time for any crime other than murder, let alone three petty, unjust felonies. Profiling is just as worse. It is just another form of legalized discrimination and stereotyping regardless of what anyone would have you believe. I've heard some say that history shows certain groups of people do certain crimes. Excuse me if I'm cynical of a government that sees a young black man with a Jaguar and thinks he couldn't have possibly paid for it through hard work. I suppose they feel that nobody could slip through the cracks of their capitalistic, exploitative system that is designed to keep us in a state of poverty. Muslims are no more prone to terrorist activity than a Roman Catholic is to molestation or a Southern white man is to lynching.
