No More Wars

War...What is it good for? Absolutely nothing! Especially when the reasons given for war are completely inconsistent with the facts. Take the war in Iraq, for example. We, the American public, are told that we are in the midst of a war on terrorism and our purpose in Iraq was to rid Saddam Hussein from weapons of mass destruction(WMD). However we, along with a few other nations, have WMDs. What right do we have to say that another nation, who is no where close to as powerful as we, should not have the ability to have and produce the same weapons that we have and produce? I've also heard the argument that Iraq, as well as, Iran should be rid of WMDs because of the threat of their potential use of these weapons. Once again, let's look at the facts. The United States is the only nation in history to ever actually use WMDs. Remember how WW2 ended? WMDs were used even though they were not even necessary. If this is truly a war on terrorism, then by its definition, the United States is a the fore-front of terrorist activity. War is BIG business!!! Just as its World War predecessors, the war on terrorism is no more than a war for profits, oil, and greed for power. The great propaganda machine called the "free press" would have us believe if we don't support our troops in this all-out war for complete world domination, then we are being unpatriotic and are traitors to our country. If we speak out against this war, then we are aiding our enemy. George Bush stated after 9/11 that "You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists." I wonder how long will it be before local, state, and federal authorities are knocking on the doors of innocent Americans charging them with treason and being placed in prisons such as Guantanemo. I stated in the beginning that war is good for nothing. I don't completely believe that. I believe that self-defense is a necessity in order to preserve one's life. In some instances, what is being called terrorism overseas is actually a nation's God-given right to self preservation. I also believe that an oppressed people, wherever they may be, have a duty to stand up for themselves. No oppressor has ever given freedom. Such freedom required those in bondage to take it. That is the very reason why minorities and poor whites are paper-free but are bound as slaves by all systems of government. They have never fought for their right to be free from oppression. That would be a different kind of war altogether, self-defense. Comparing the violence of an oppressor to the violence of the oppressed breaking said oppression, is not only insensitive to the plight of those in an oppressed state, but it is totally arrogant and ignorant.
