Albinism from the latin word "Albus" that means "white" is an inherited condition which is from an alteration in one or more of the genes that direct the eyes and skin to make or distribute melanin. Melanin is a photo protective pigment that absorbs UV light form the sun and protects skin form getting damaged. But people with albinism do not have melanin pigment in their skin. Normal people who tan do and albino end up sunburned and can lead to many different skins of skin cancer. Albinism is a rare disorder with less than 100, 00 people found in the United States and Europe. It affects all races and other countries like Southern Nigeria with 20 cases out of 100, 00.
