TruthfulHeart Healing and Successful Self Development

Personal growth & Empowerment

The Path of the Truthful Heart--

Foundations-- Steps for Life

1. We come to see and accept our need for a true connection with self, life, and "Something Greater"* than the visible world.

2. We commit our hearts to ongoing efforts in the development of these connections as the first basis of our lives.

3. We take a full personal inventory of our true nature and our gifts, graces, and "baggage" through life.

4. We admit that some of our challenges are bigger than we are; we open to and ask for guidance and help from channels of Greater Power.

5. We share our personal inventory with someone we trust, opening to feedback, self- acceptance, forgiveness, and correction.

6. We make amends to ourselves and others in our inventory as appropriate.

7. We plan and develop a better way of living, asking for help, identifying, and amending past and present misnomers and positives on a regular basis.

8. We continue to progress in our practice of these principles, moving forward into service and "self- forgetting" as we work with others in sharing our new way of life.

We do not do these steps alone-- we ask for, and receive the help we need from others and from
our own understanding of "Something Greater", as we re-form the Foundation of our lives on this Earth....

More about these Steps...

Steps # 1 & 2: We come to see our need for
true connection with self, life, and "Something Greater" than the visible world.
We commit our hearts to ongoing efforts in the development of these connections as the first basis of our lives.

• Though we may have doubts, we soon see that the "hoops" we are to "jump through" are as roomy and vast as the Spirit of life itself...
We take the time we need, using logic, self- questioning and other tools to be sure our hearts and minds are fully with us in making these committments.

Step # 3-- We take a full personal inventory of our true nature and our gifts, graces, and "baggage" through life.

• Using a format that helps us focus on our own misnomers, weaknesses and strengths, we write out our misconnections and disconnections regarding past and present relationships in the following areas:

People-- including families, friends, partners, parents, authority figures, co-workers, etc..
Anything we have used as a drug or escape that has been a problem or potential problem in our lives; substances, money, drugs, food, sex, fantasy, etc.,

Feelings: We write about our anger and resentments, fears, values, and loves.
A Higher Power: our conceptions and their roots; our limitations and choices today.

We write about our victories, strengths, and perceived weaknesses or failings, and the positives in our lives that we can rely on. If writing is a problem, we ask for help.

Writing is a valuable tool that helps us advance strongly. Often, previously unseen patterns emerge that are key to our misconnections and to creating a better life.
Seeing the truth of "who we are" and our choices on paper can powerfully redouble our understanding and abilities for change.

Step # 4. We share our personal inventory with someone we trust, opening to feedback, self- acceptance, forgiveness, and correction.
• This step in itself is freeing; many of us have considered some things too personal to share; "getting it out"-- and being accepted anyway-- is a big release for most of us.

# 5. We admit that some of our challenges are bigger than we can meet alone, and we open to and ask for help from "Something Greater".
• And the help comes-- often amazingly fast!

# 6. We make amends to ourselves and others in our inventory as appropriate.
• Again-- we don't do this alone-- having help from another who has done this step helps us separate out what may be helpful from the harmful.

# 7. We plan and develop a better way of living, asking for help, identifying, and amending past and present misnomers and positives on a regular basis.
• Our ongoing "inventory" includes questions to help bring our thinking and values into line with healthy thinking and our world, ie.: "What feels true to me?" "On what basis do i believe this?" "Is it true?" " How do I live my life in regards to that-- or not?", "How can I change this?", etc.....

Our "Daily Plan" for living may include abstinence from problem behaviors or ways of thinking. We substitute other, postitive activites, and re-program better attitudes through practices such as meditation, gratitudes, self-nurturance, etc.

# 8. We continue to practice these principles, moving forward into "self- forgetting" as we work with ourselves and others, sharing our program, process, and progress.

The key to sef-mastery is "self- forgetting"-- but we must first "remember" the tuth of who we are.

Sharing regularly and working with others helps us learn, grow, and stay in the path of the Truthful Heart, for this inner work is never fully completed-- there is alays room for growth-- and in this our hearts are truly fillled. "Progress, not Perfection" is our goal.

* "Something Greater"* than what we see refers to...

"Spirit" -- the Heartmind (in Buddhist terminology), or unseen part of us—
begins with whatever, to us, might represent the Universal Stream of Life,

whether we call it God or our own better interest or Higher self,
whether we experience it from within or without, does not matter.
What matters is that we apply our intelligence and inner Wisdom to this task.

Here we call for a much broader understanding of “Spirit”;
for example, anything healthy that is done to relax, maintain & heal mind or body
can be a help to Spirit, and may be a part of one's "spiritual" mission.

Truth must be our Foundation
