The
' kaiserliche Fliegertruppe ' of WWI - Fotos of the M.Pleyer collection
(Berlin) |
The
following fotos came from the collection of M.Pleyer,a man very engaged in
the history of those who belonged to the former ' Fliegertruppe '.
I had the luck to get some contact with him - and he sent me these beautiful
pictures.
He is collecting every information he can get and put it into the net - a
real good job. If you like visit his page - the url is : http://www.idflieg.de

A
scene, constructed by a photographer ..., an Albatros B (B 570/15)
with his crew and ground personal .... the commander and his pilot to the
right - discussing the task ..... |
Meanwhile
seated, the crew seems to be highly engaged .....Watch the instrument fixed
at the strut,it looks like an airspeed indicator - today modern aircraft
uses pitot tubes for that .. |
The
crew changed into an ' C ' type aircraft ,Oberleutnant Bennecke and comander
Vogt.
The observer now in the back ..... |
Another
so called ' B ' type aircraft, the crew seemed to be a little bit
superstitious.
There are two mascots, a Teddybear and a pig hanging behind the upper
tank ..... |
The
two mascots in detail .... meanwhile i found another pig above the engine
.....
This plane seemed to be a very special - personal kind of a flying unit
... |

Now
some pictures of captured allied aircraft during WWI
..... |

Downed
allied pilot in front of his destroyed aircraft (Sopwith ?) ... He is not
looking very friendly, bat that's a fact i absolutely understand

A
Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2 in trouble. Inspite of this, it seemes, that
this aircraft became airborn again - look at the next picture.Watch also
the half gasoline barrel collecting the oil coming out of the engine
.... |
Looks
like undestructable .... The B.E.2 - now with german markings
.... |

Here

SPAD
VII , 23 Squadron RFC, Pilot LT Balme
Shot down on 10th of October 1917 by Gefreiter Brettel (JASTA 10) - astonishing
to me - Gefreiter means a very low level in the german military rank system
- but he seemed to be very successful ...
A british built Bleriot SPAD, normally not used for combat missions but only
for training purposes....
The french built SPAD were faster and therefore prefered by the british
pilots. |

Crash,

Airfield of Flieger Abteilung

Bomb crater after
an attack.
It looks like the
german airfields of those days were not much liked by the allied's.
.... Again a
bomb attack
Relicts of
a Fokker ....
Junkers J1 - ground
attack airplane in trouble ....
This plane , a so
called 'J' type - aircraft , was the answer to the strong ground fire,
of the last years of ww1. It was strongly protected (and heavy), not simple
to fly and slow, but a simple bullit could not come through the steel armour
.........
Finish .... for the
moment, but the story will go on .......
