The other day, I was telling Scott
that my Father
had clients in his business
that made him nuts. This might have been due to several reasons.
He bought other agencies and may have obtained clients that got along with
the staff there but not with him. He was nuts in the first
place. Answering machines weren't invented back then.
Now that I think of it though - what's wrong with an Answering Service.
I remember my Dad would go "nuts" if anyone called at Dinner time.
One time, in Jr. High
one of my classmates asked for my phone # as the teacher said we should
exchange numbers, in case we missed class and needed to get the homework.
I gave him the number, BUT had to write out 1/3 page of RULES on when he
could call.
I'm fortunate in that I don't have any
clients that make me nuts. I venture that they just don't purchase
coverage from me in the first place,
or I don't pursue them to buy.
What reminded me of this story was
that Scott and I had a Web Design Client
about 2 years ago that made us "Nuts." There were things that we
were not expert on and we told him that. He mentioned he wanted this
type of feature or that type. I wanted to start now, so that we would
have it done by HIS deadline. But, he wanted to impose HIS start date
too.
Then he would get angry, if everything
wasn't done to perfection the first time. He recently got
married and while I've seen him and his wife together at various events... I
didn't know he got married, nor did I take the time to visit with them and
find out her name. She kept her Maiden name, I presume as she's
established in her business. She has some medical history and was
referred to me by another Insurance Agent. I fortunately have a "Specialty Health Plan"
for self employed down to ONE employee. Leah* and I set a meeting and
then the morning of the meeting. Joe* called and said that he had
taken care of it. I called him back, as I would like to know what
other companies could do that. He said he was just going to
investigate more. There are deadlines to get coverage.
Maybe I do get "nuts" a little when people wait till the last day to send in
their applications and then call me ALL the time to ask where their ID cards
are. This sounds to me like business I don't need.
