One of my friends set me up with his
X-wife. I had met him for lunch and he mentioned that he would give me
her number. I didn't really want to pursue it. Then my Tennis
group was one person short for doubles and I asked him if he wanted to play.
He emailed me back and said no, but that his X-was a strong B player and
would like to. How could I NOT call her now?
I called, she didn't want to play
Tennis, but did want to go out. I saw him at the Grocery Store
and we were both kind of smirking at each other. I thought - just
because he set me up - doesn't mean I have to report details. He
brought it up and said - I hear you're busy Saturday. Saturday
came and I had previously won the Silent Auction at the
Grand Grunion Gala to benefit
the Cabrillo
Aquarium, for the
Admiral Risty Restaurant.
It's kind of expensive - so I figured - I'll wait till I see what she looks
like and decide then if we would go to McDonalds or Admiral Risty.
She looked good. We went to the Admiral Risty.
While there, I apologized for watching
the crowd - as I so often see people I know. I saw Mike Lansing
from the Boys Club I had been
to their opening fundraiser that week and related Mike's story of how
valuable the club was to him in his teen age years. Later I saw
someone else we BOTH knew. She said, who your X wife? I said NO,
you're X husband. I tried to avoid him - this isn't
Blind Date I didn't have
to report to him. He couldn't have known I would be there.
I didn't know. Although he did say his X was good looking.
Any way's when we were ready to leave - she went to the Women's room for a
long time. So, I went and said hello. We then went by the
Archery Range and then found the
Skyroom in the Breakers Hotel.
It's really fancy, just like the movie Casablanca. So, while the
date went OK, it wasn't 2nd date material. I brought her home by
the curfew I had told her teenage daughter that I would.
Now that I've found the right place -
just like Casablanca - I'm on a quest to find the right woman to take
there.
