Welcome to Derek-Jeter.org, a site dedicated to bringing you the latest news and information on the superstar shortstop. Throughout his major league career, we've been dazzled as we witnessed the truly awe-inspiring talent of Derek Jeter. The 2003 season, although shortened by injury, should be no different. Whether he's flipping into stands or heaving shovel passes to save games, Derek Jeter is the very definition of exciting. Look around and enjoy yourself as you delve into the thrilling world of one of the best the game has to offer.

Derek-Jeter.org is a proud member of the EFanGuide community.

Layout coming soon...

Congrats to the Yanks on making the postseason, and congrats to Derek on taking the AL batting title down to the wire. He had an awesome season despite the injuries and such. Doesn't he make you proud to be a fan? He's so awesome. Season wrap-up will accompany the layout:)

I'm hoping to have a new layout up this weekend. I've been working on one but it's not turning out right. Anyway, hopefully I'll have it up soon. I also have caps from the new (and new is used loosely) VISA commercial with Mr. Steinbrenner, as well as caps of his post-AL East clinching-game interview to add.

Starting soon, after this next layout probably, I'm not going to have the standing, statistics, etc. anymore. I just cannot keep up with the daily updates, and it's basically from MLB's site anyway LOL. If anyone wants to volunteer, you can and then I'll keep them up but otherwise, I'm going to take them down.

To the people signing the guestbook: First, people aren't signing their names "Jeter's #1 fan!" That is automatically displayed because I formatted the guestbook that way. Every fan that signs the guestbook has that after their name. Second, there is no clear cut way of being a fan of Derek's. You're a "true fan" if you like Derek period. Who cares if you like him because of his looks, his abilities, etc? Sure, if you only like him because of his looks (and newsflash, it's no crime to find the man attractive), you're missing out because he's an amazing athlete, but let people be fans the way they see fit. If you think it's wrong to like Derek for this reason or that, then you don't do it. Don't preach about it in the guestbook. Okay? Groovy:)

Torre Says Jeter Won't Play This Weekend. Unfortunately, it looks like Derek's "slight muscle strain in his left rib cage" has sidelined him a little longer. He'll miss this weekend's series vs. the Boston Red Sox. Hopefully, we'll see him in action next week:)

ESPN has added tomorrow (Friday) night's 4:05 PM game vs. Boston to it's schedule. Check your local listings as always:)

I've been getting e-mails asking when I'm going to update and the reason I'm not really updating is because I'm working on a new layout, and some new things to add. Anyway, before I talk about yet another Jeter injury, I want to apologize for completely neglecting the site this year. The season went by so fast, and I realize that I haven't added anything, and haven't updated several sections. I feel really bad about that. And it's already September. Unbelievable. Anyway, I do apologize for that.

Now onto the bad (somewhat bad anyway) news: Rib Injury Sidelines Derek Jeter. Apparently, we should only expect Derek to be out for about 3 games, and it seems like a good sign that the injury doesnt look to be as serious as similar injuries that kept him out longer, and landed him on the disabled list. Hopefully it's not too serious, and we'll see him the this weekend's series vs. the Red Sox. On a lighter note, DJ's average is sitting pretty at .322. He finished up the month of August batting .317, and having at least one hit in all but three games.

I'm glad people like the desktop icons. I'll put up more:)

Added a few message board avatars. More to come later if you want/like them. Also, are you guys using the desktop icons? Do you want more? Let me know by e-mailing me or by filling out the contact webmaster form to your right:)

The statistics page isn't updated yet, so I'll update those tomorrow, but Derek went 1-5 in today's game vs. the Kansas City Royals. The Yankees won the game 6-0. Tomorrow's game has been added to ESPN's Wednesday Night Baseball schedule so be sure to check it out!

August 3, 2003
Derek just has not slowed down. Hey, I'm not complaining. He finished up July with a .324 batting average overall (.425 in July), racking up 37 hits in 24 games played. August looks to be no different as he already has at least one hit in each of the three games played so far.

ESPN has added the second game of the last series with the Texas Rangers to their Wednesday Night Baseball schedule so you'll get to kill two birds with one stone and check out two of the best shortstops in the game for the last time this (regular) season this Wednesday at 7:05 PM ET. As always, check your local listings for exact information.

After reading a few messages posted on the message board, I realized that there is a very important part of Derek Jeter that I have not acknowledged as I should and that is what a wonderful role model he is. That is definitely something that should be acknowledged and I'm working on a way to incorporate that into the site. Until then, here is a link to the Get Caught Reading website where Derek was "caught reading." Or if you don't want to visit the link, here is the image:

Derek's Jumpman DJ training shoes (white/midnight navy, and black/white) were released July 23 with the white/varsity red shoe to be released September 13, and the light zen grey/obsidian shoe to be released in October. A picture of the shoe is below, and you can visit the website for the Jumpman DJ shoe here. There is also a video clip available at the Jumpman website featuring an interview with Derek which you can find here. (Click on Athlete Media and the video clip is called "Love Is...")

Pic and Screen Cap Gallery updated with photos and caps:)

Look who has a .316 batting average! Just a few weeks ago, he was batting under .250. Derek's just been on a tear. So far in the month of July, Derek's batting .514 going 19-37. Amazing. Keep it up Derek!

Pic and Screen Cap Gallery updated with lots o'photos.

Another outstanding game from Jeter. I spy a .307 batting average...

July 7, 2003
You know I have to start out with the Pedro Martinez "incident." If you haven't heard about it, during today's game versus the Boston Red Sox both Derek Jeter and Alfonso Soriano left the game after being "hit on their hands by high-and-tight pitches from Pedro Martinez" according to ESPN.com. Pedro Martinez disgusts me. I can appreciate his talent, but his attitude and blatant lack of respect for players in the league is repulsive. I can also appreciate the way he protects his players. I don't know what it'll take for the Yankees pitchers to wake up and do the same for their teammates. Broken limbs? Severe head trauma? I'm totally against violence in baseball (although I do enjoy watching the brawls from time to time), but next time, Derek should just charge the mound. And don't drop the bat Derek! Anyway, I suppose that the Yanks ultimately got the sweetest revenge...a win. Nevertheless, it's still disturbing. X-rays were negative, Derek is listed as day to day, and he says he'd like to start tomorrow's game versus the Cleveland Indians. Here's a link to ESPN's article on the incident which also includes video of George Steinbrenner speaking on it: Jeter, Soriano Leave Game With Hand Injuries.

It's official. Derek will not be an All-Star this year:( But that's okay. It's quite understandable given he missed a few weeks due to his dislocated shoulder. I sure would like to see him in Chicago but he didn't have enough time to make an impression on voters. But, he has been making quite an impression on us Yankees fans. He was in the midst of an 8 game hitting streak before today's game. He went 18-37 during that span, including 7 hits in this last Boston series alone, bumping his average to .297. No wonder Pedro hit him. Just kidding! Kind of:)

I (finally) updated Survivor, added some questions submitted through the Ask Derek section, and added a new poll question to the voting booth (which is also to your right). I also updated the Pic & Screen Capture Gallery with game pictures as well as screen captures, and also added scans submitted by my friend Tracy(!) which are of the July '03 issue of Yankees magazine. The guestbook has a new graphic and the message board underwent a color change.

I went through over 500 e-mails over the weekend (thanks so much to everyone who submitted comments, interations, etc.!), but I still have a few more sections to go through, including the Contact The Webmaster submissions and Blinkie Requests. I'm trying!

Happy birthday Derek!

Sorry for the down time! If you see something that isn't working properly, please let me know:)

Derek is in a wicked slump right now. Nothing else to say about that except hopefully he can bust out of it soon. Meanwhile the Yanks have won 4 in a row and 5 of their last 6 games.

I was finally able to capture Derek's Visa commercial with George Steinbrenner and some of the commercial for All-Star Baseball 2004. I am coding the pages for those caps now so head on over to the gallery in a little bit and they'll be up:)

I'm sorry about the pop-ups people. But do not send me messages about them. I know they are here, I don't want them here, but there is nothing that I can do. To satiate your desire for a pop-up free site, you can follow this link to PanicWare's download page and download the pop-up stopper that I use (Pop-Up Stopper FREE Edition). I never, ever see a pop-up anywhere unless I choose to. Once you install this, right click on the little X in your system tray and select 'Preference' and then put a check mark next to 'Enable Aggressive Pop-Up Control' for the best blocking:)

More updates later as I fish through all of the e-mails:)
