KNYSNA MODEL SAILING GROUP

We are still only 4 RC Laser strong here in Knysna, but continually trying to draw people to the hobby. Sailing takes place every Saturday with our most liked sailing spot being off Leisure Isle Boat Club. Model sailing has no season so you will find us braving the winter winds, light or strong.
There are three second hand boats up for grabs within SA at present, so if you are keen make contact with me ( Brian) or Terry for details.

Fw: Dates for RCLaser Championships for 2009
Hello Everyone,,,,,The dates for two major championships in KZN for 2009 have been set

They are

a.. The RCLaser KZNatal Provincial Championships. This will be sailed at the Pond at Blue Lagoon on Saturday & Sunday 6th & 7th June 2009. This is slightly later in the year than normal but has been moved to avoid various "clashes"
b.. The RCLaser SA National Championships. This will be sailed at the Pond at Blue Lagoon on Saturday & Sunday 7th & 8th November 2009
Please add these regatta dates to your diary right away so as to avoid 'double dating'

We have selected a high tide venue for Knysna ( off from Leisure Isle small boat harbour)

Four casual races were held, which was enjoyed by the four of us.

We hope to next try out this area at low tide, if it works we then have a fixed sailing venue. From then on we will develop handicaps and racing results.

At the moment we have a possible 4 RCLasers that could very soon be sailing / racing here !
Jim Cleland has a new boat and never sailed ( was given it as birthday gift)
George Winter has seen and sailed my boat, and is to buy a ex Knysna rclaser at the end of October.
Malcolm used to sail in Gauteng but now living in Sedgefield.

Hello to the RCLaser Fleet,,,,,,A great photo from John Wright taken in the Knysna Lagoon has just been published on the website www.rclaser.co.za this is relavent in that Brian Beauchamp is making an effort to relaunch the RCLaser class in Knysna after recently moving down there, if I am not mistaken he bought Rob Bowdens boat awhile back. The photo is titled "The BIG and the small of it" take a look!

Now Knysna was the 2nd place in SA to establish a fleet all those years back so there must be RCLs still down there. If you know of anyone with a RCLaser down in Knysna then refer them to the new "Lastest News from Knysna" page on the website for the details to contact Brian alternatively they can contact Brian through myself by return email.

Things to remember
a.. The next Durdan RCL Regatta is on Sunday 5th October at the pond at 10h00 for 10h30
b.. The RCLaser National Championships takes place at Wemmer Pan in Gauteng on the 18th & 19th October see the website for NOR
c.. The Thursday Summer Series starts on November 6th at the Pond at 17h30 and every Thursday after that until 18th December
d.. I have also had an email from Geoffery Mc Pherson who is sorting out the electrics of a RCLaser in Maputo, if anyone is going that way we need to get the new equipment to him
e.. The RCLaser fleet is back on the way UP!
