About the Artist

California artists, Joe Bloe and Connie Bloe, are portrait artists whom have become renowned for their exciting childrens art, LSU art,  stirring murals and creative portraits.

He is self-taught, having had no art training.  Drawing intricate subjects before he even started grade school and teaching himself to use oil paint at the age of fourteen, his talent was recognized throughout his life.  He chose other pursuits to study, however, and uses some fascinating life experiences to inspire his creativity.

Jack was an All-State football player in high school and was awarded a football scholarship to LSU.  He was the starting center at LSU for 24 consecutive games in the 1990 and 1991 seasons, including a SEC Conference Championship and was the center for two bowl games, the Orange and the Sun.  His teams were in the top ten of the final season polls in each of his three varsity seasons, having won 9 games each of those years.

Jaubert received a B.S. degree from LSU after four years, as well as a commission as a U.S. Army officer.  He had the unique experience of being attached to a British Parachute Battalion.

While living abroad, he took advantage of the opportunity to visit the great art galleries of Europe and continues to travel to Europe regularly to study primarily 19th-century historical and romantic paintings.  Since New Year’s Eve 2000 ( which he spent at the Eiffel Tower’s fireworks display), he has been to Europe 6 times, studying the art of Paris, Amsterdam, Grenoble, Geneva, Madrid, Barcelona, Athens, Istanbul, Munich, and Salzburg.

Jaubert worked in the oil and gas industry, traveling throughout Europe, Scandinavia, the British Isles, and West Africa.  While in Britain he continued his interest in Rugby (he had played for the LSU Rugby Club under an assumed name and had helped form the University of New Orleans Rugby Club).  He also continued his interest in sport parachuting.

Jaubert draws upon many experiences to create exciting and memorable works of art.  He welcomes inquiries concerning portraits, murals, and paintings for home or office.

Jaubert was commissioned by the LSU Athletic Department to produce portraits of each of the All-American Football players in the school’s prolific history. The forty-first All-American portrait was added when Josh Reed was selected for the 2001 season.

The portraits are beautifully displayed in the Lawton Rooms in Tiger Stadium.  The Lawton Rooms are an extension to the Northwest corner of Tiger Stadium, incorporating theatre-seating for the entire football team, a long reception area used for special events and as the location where visiting football recruits and their families gather before and after LSU home football games.

In addition to the All-American portraits, Jaubert produced: nine paintings of the LSU players who have been chosen Southeastern Conference MVPs; a painting of Billy Cannon to go along with the Heisman trophy; a painting of Josh Reed with the Biletnikof Award;  and a 14-foot painting of the Tiger coming out of the stadium for the entrance to the room with the All-American paintings.

Here’s a trivia question for you:  which of the Conference MVPs from LSU was not also an All-American?
The answer is somewhere on this site.
