Accelerators
If you are on dial-up, especially
with a 2 hour cut-off, then you need a download manager, that
enables you to resume a download if it fails part way through.
These also make downloads faster.

does have slightly annoying adverts, and is reported by SpyBot as

use the 'Bcc:' section.

VNC Setup
TightVNC won't work with Zone Alarm
if it starts too soon. The solution is to install a startup
manager, that allows programs to be started at specified
intervals. I've found StartRight works well. Just put Zone Alarm
near the top, and TightVNC at the bottom with a 10000ms
delay. StartRight (373KB) – This allows you to control
the timing of when things start. http://www.joejoesoft.com/sr.php

Security
Your computer needs three things:
Anti-virus, Firewall & SpyWare killers.
I recommend
the following: AVG for anti-virus, ZoneAlarm for a firewall, and
SpyBot + Ad-Aware + CWShredder + HijackThis + SpywareBlaster +
Spyware Doctor for
spyware prevention & killing.
None of these will be
very effective if they are not updated daily. Doing so less
regularly would be like driving a car and only putting a seat
belt on on some journeys !!!

HTML PreProcessors
These allow you to separate a web
page into a number of files, and create static web pages from
those files. They will also allow the use of variables to create
different content on each page. They may also remove comments
and other unnecessary text to make your HTML smaller.
